Tax Manager

In this vital role you will an important member of a world class tax department that provides global tax planning, tax compliance, transfer pricing, tax reporting, and tax operational support for the Company. Working closely with other members of the global tax planning team, the Tax Manager will partner with the transfer pricing and tax reporting teams as well as Amgen India’s finance and business key collaborators, including supporting Amgen’s international tax compliance, operational transfer pricing, transfer pricing documentation, direct and indirect tax reporting, and related matters. In addition, the Tax Manager will play a lead role in managing direct and indirect tax operations for Amgen in India.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated great teammate with excellent communication and management skills who have the relevant Indian tax planning and compliance expertise, and a strong background in international taxation. The role is a key position for the business with exposure to senior management in the tax and broader finance teams.
Support international tax compliance and reporting.
Review accounting results and transfer prices for Amgen’s international entities to ensure results are in line with the policies and target profits of the Amgen Group.
Work closely with external providers to prepare international transfer pricing documentation and reporting.
Partner with Amgen’s regional finance and accounting teams to ensure compliance with statutory accounting and reporting activities.
Support the US GAAP quarterly and annual tax provision process and align with related Sarbanes Oxley requirements
Manage Amgen’s direct and indirect tax matters in India.
Prepare and file of all direct and indirect tax returns in India with support from external advisors.
Assist with implementation of international tax projects.
Partner with the international tax team on management of tax audits and assessments.
Serve as the tax representative on cross-functional project teams in India.
Improve processes and drive efficiencies.
Evaluate and advise management on the tax consequences of Indian and international legislative changes.
Manage relationships with external advisors.
Other ad-hoc duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree OR
Master’s degree and 4 to 6 years of tax experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 6 to 8 years of tax experience OR
Diploma and 10 to 12 years of tax experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Big Four and/or corporate in-house tax department.
Experience in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology manufacturing environment.
Tax transformation experience involving recent technology advancements.
Familiarity with tax software and tax research engines.
Expertise in Indian direct and indirect taxation laws and a strong understanding of Indian tax compliance and reporting requirements.
Proficiency in international tax and transfer pricing matters and prior experience in managing global tax compliance
Ability to work in cross-functional team environment across multiple senior levels of management.
Knowledge of local GAAP relating to tax.
Ability to understand cross-functional impacts across the tax function and functions external to tax.
Experience supporting senior leaders of an organization as a tax partner
High level of integrity and ethical standards.
Problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
