In SGX team, Amazon Publishing is one of the programs we offer conversion services, where the mission is to invent new and better ways to connect authors and readers.
We are seeking an energetic, driven, and process-oriented Senior Associate, to work aside with Content Quality Managers and Subject Matter Expert for European Accessibility Act project. In this role, you will provide QA support, driving the content remediation workstream.
Key job responsibilities
• QA support for the accessibility enabled eBooks.
• Partner with Content Quality Managers and SMEs on remediating accessibility support for fixed format book.
• Drive remediation workstream for backfill titles.
• Perform expedited in-house eBook conversion when needed.
• Perform eBook quality and accessibility assurance for in-production titles with complex conversion considerations.
• Audit and validate accuracy of vendor-converted eBook files, and conversion process quality.
• Establish standard operating procedures for integrated production of accessible EPUBs.
• Provide detailed needs for technical teams, and support testing for InDesign to EPUB conversion automation.
• Partner with design, content and production subject matter experts to build robust eBook quality process documentation.
• Stay informed of industry developments and act as Voice of the Publisher internally in the broader Amazon eBook ingestion and conversion space.
• Partner with Editorial and Design teams to determine styling requirements related to content, and collaborate on best practices to meet eBook requirements, as well as catering to the customer reading experience.
This is a multifaceted job that requires flexibility and dedication to quality to help us fulfill our mission of driving and measuring excellence in publishing.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• 2+ years experience with eBook conversion or eBook formatting.
• Prior experience with print and eBook formatting tools such as Adobe InDesign.
• Technical knowledge of e-book formats (e.g. EPUB, MOBI) and their specifications.
• HTML, XML and CSS proficiency.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word styling.
• Expert knowledge of mapping Word styles to Adobe InDesign styles, and mapping styles to export tags.
• Proven ability to conceptualize and execute deadline-driven projects, with strong bias for action and ability to prioritize multiple, competing priorities.
