Job Description
SUSE is seeking an SRE Engineer to join our Rancher Observability team, supporting our SaaS observability platform. You'll ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our platform using your expertise in SRE practices, AWS, and Kubernetes.
Working with a talented team of site reliability engineers, you'll maintain and improve our cloud-native infrastructure while collaborating across the organization. Your role will combine hands-on troubleshooting, system design, and automation to enhance our platform's robustness and efficiency.
Position Focus Areas
- Maintain and optimize our SaaS platform's Kubernetes clusters and AWS infrastructure
- Automate platform provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps
- Design and implement Control Plane features
- Safeguard system reliability, security, and continuity through proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and resilient disaster recovery.
- Collaborate with development teams on cloud-native applications
Preferred Experiences & Skills
Note: At SUSE, we value a wide range of skills and experiences. While Kubernetes and AWS experience are essential, we don't expect proficiency in all listed technologies. We encourage you to apply if you have experience with similar technologies and are eager to learn.
Essential Skills:
- Experience with Kubernetes/container orchestration in production
- Proficiency in AWS cloud technologies and services
- Understanding of SRE practices (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets)
- Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform)
- Scripting skills (Python, Bash, or Go)
- CI/CD and GitOps practices
- Strong Linux/Unix systems knowledge
Additional Experience:
- Disaster recovery and high availability strategies
- Incident management and root cause analysis
- Networking concepts in cloud environments
- Security best practices and compliance frameworks
- Go programming experience
