Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshoot and triage of system alerts
Work with vendors on service requests and drive resolution
Handle day-to-day VMware & Linux operational work
Perform analysis of overall system health
Datastore management and troubleshooting
Network configuration and performance
Work within our micro segmentation platform and policies
Apply software updates and deploy new systems
Work with team to identify and automate VMware/Linux operational tasks Assist customers with Linux and Windows guest configurations as needed
Disk and Network management
Troubleshoot performance or configuration issues
Maintain documentation and update periodically
Escalate and communicate as per standard operating procedures
Perform on-call support (off-hours / weekend rotation) as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
BS Degree preferred Experience Required
Knowledge of automation (scripting, Bash, Python, PowerShell ,etc.)
-Strongly preferred
Experience with Micro Segmentation Concepts
Experience with VMware suite of tools (vCenter, RvTools, Shell, etc.)
Experience with monitoring systems, VSAN, Linux, Windows, ESXI (6.7+), vSphere
Experience with typical application landscape within an enterprise data center environment
10+ years hands on experience with VMware vSphere or other virtualization platforms
5+ years hands on experience with vSphere, vSAN, and other VMware products and platforms
Deep understanding of server provisioning workflows and automation platforms
Excellent experience in Bash PowerShell, Python scripting
Excellent knowledge in operating systems including Windows OS / Linux
Excellent understanding of virtualization technology General Requirements
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of business via phone, written communication, and in person
Customer service focused
Team collaboration, responsiveness, ability to multi-task Strong sense of urgency, ability to set priorities and perform the job with little guidance
Reporting skills critical
Clearly outline/explain solutions in an email form (to team members and endusers) is a must
Technical aptitude to be self-taught and learn processes and procedures as needed
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) required
4-year IT-related college degree or equivalent experience
VCP or RHCE and other related training and certification highly encouraged
