The Job holder will be part of the ISC Polyurethane Technology & Innovation (T&I) team and will be based in South India. The “India T&I team” is part of the Global Technology & Innovation team. The India T&I team is tasked with developing, tweaking, translation of new products and providing excellent product services to our customer for India Polyurethanes business, its portfolio of products.
The job holder will be a hands-on application chemist, who will provide customer services, troubleshooting and product tweaking on the current and future portfolio of products specifically for Footwear segment.
Unique feature of this role will be the ability to form a bridge between the product development, R&D and sales/marketing teams to identify and offer customer specific solutions.
Principal Accountabilities:
Ensure full compliance with safety, health, and environmental guidelines according to site and company standards in all areas of responsibility, including customer locations, plants, laboratory facilities and testing equipment’s. Promote safety behavior according to the above guidelines.
Has a strong ability to understand and practice Footwear products for different applications.
To carry out trials of newly developed products at the customer site and influence to gain customer acceptance of new developments.
To conduct periodic trials internally in collaboration with the Product and Application Development Team as part of the development cycle of new products.
To analyze customer complaints which may stem from either customer process related issues or from Huntsman product related issues and to work in close collaboration with both the customer and Huntsman cross-functional teams to find solutions for the customer.
To acquire and utilize detailed technical application expertise within the PU Footwear market sector and to propose chemical formulations and technologies for the relevant FW segments.
To independently fine tune formulations meeting customer requirements and to contribute significantly to the development of novel application techniques in collaboration with the Product and Application Development Team.
To be an active member of the Footwear Cross-Functional Team.
To maintain orderly laboratory work and visit reports covering customer trials both in-house and at location.
To keep abreast of all PU developments within the PU Footwear application area and to generate and communicate the novel technical ideas.

Education / Experience
Job holder must have an equivalent of a Masters (M.Sc., M. Tech., or MS) in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Polymer Engineering with an experience of 1-5 years in Product & Application Development, R&D and experience in a technology, techno-market oriented organization or Bachelors (B.Sc. or B.Tech.) in Chemistry or equivalent with minimum 5-8 yrs of industrial experience.
Demonstrated expertise in formulation, prototyping and application developments.
Techno commercial expertise.
Application development experience in polyurethane based microcellular foams.
Proven track record of successfully running products, applications, machine trials at both internal and customer locations.
Strong skills in handling multiple projects.
Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically when implementing products and solving customer or product related problems.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, with both technical and non-technical individuals, customers, cross-functional teams.
Must be a skilled and experienced user of a variety of IT tools and techniques in order to ensure efficient design, analytical and communication processes.
