Senior Engineering Program Manager/PMO Leader, Hyderabad, India


The Sr PMO leader is responsible for delivery of all programs and projects within SME and THERMAL GBEs in IA SBG and leads Program Managers reporting into him/her.He/she is responsible for PM Governance maturity & spreading the PM best practice among the Project Owners within LOB.


The PMO leader will oversee the end to end product development from planning to execution to product launch of integrated electronic, mechanical and software based industrial control and Internet of Things (IoT) products. He will be expected to manage Top programs while working with widely dispersed global development teams. 

Key Responsibilities: 


PMO Leadership


  • Builds and maintains relationship with GBE partners, customers and executive leadership to enable effective program execution meeting customer commitments at GBE level.
  • Responsible for LOB level project delivery by working closely with engineering, marketing and business leaders both at HTS and global locations.
  • Mentor and nurture global program management competency within GBE.
  • Drive consistent PM practices in the GBE at all levels (EM, PM, PL etc)

Program Management


  • Leads cross- functional, cross-cultural and virtual program teams of SETS Top 10 programs including Technology, Sales, Marketing, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Customer Support and Training across the globe to successfully achieve the program & business goals.
  • Successful planning, development, and execution of the assigned product and service development and/ or certification programs to fulfill contractual and business requirements within approved budget & schedule constraints.
  • Introduce the product thru Factory and arrange training of the Sales and Operations team on the product.

  • Negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups; settle differences with minimum noise; win concessions without damaging relationships; be direct and forceful as well as diplomatic; gains trust quickly of other parties to the negotiations; has a good sense of timing.
  • Deals effectively with various domestic and foreign third-parties (i.e., customers, vendors, and partners) for the benefit of all programs
  • Assess unclear, complex, and ambiguous situations and reduce into distinct, clear, timely, and stable direction for the development team 
  • Pro-active management of risks and opportunities ensuring that appropriate actions are planned and executed for risk mitigation and opportunity achievement. Organizational Engagement - Engages all levels of Management across the organization by exception to resolve resource conflicts, remove roadblocks, & implement risk mitigations.
  • Direct and manage the process of scope definition and change control, including estimating and negotiations of program contract and scope variations.
  • Reporting status of programs at various levels of the organization.

  • Should be able to align with the business goals and be a part of the pipeline creation, business roadmap.
  • Ability to understand business and prioritizing the projects within the pipeline for maximum gains. Bringing in long term business success perspective to meet business strategic objectives, rather than short term needs.
  • Works in partnership with project managers of other programs which are part of the larger program and effectively coordinates dependencies, milestones, risks, integration goals and deliverables as expected of the master program plan.
  • Ensures the programs projects are executed in alignment with strategic goals of the business and the Honeywell Operation System (HOS) targets.

  • Exert influence in developing and maintaining Organizational values, systems & culture, process maturity that ensure highest value to the SBG partners & HON customers
  • Enable effective communication, cross collaboration and coordination across all stake holders for information dissemination and sharing.
  • Prioritizes key issues, and takes quick appropriate action with minimal support to resolve prior to program impact

·Ability to bring in Business know how and best practices to control and reduce program cost and time


·Actively enagage and deliver PMO excellence initiatives like Cycle Time Reduction, Compliance & Vitality improvement


·Actively pursue and contribute to VPD, HOS excellence & Cultural Transformation


YOU MUST HAVE


  • Bachelors / Masters Degree in Engineering
  • PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • MBA or any other Management Diploma/Certificate/Degreewould be an added advantage

  • 15 years of overall industry experience 
  • 8 years program management or project leadership experience 
  • 5 years of proven experience developing integrated electronic, mechanical and software based products
  • 3 years of proven experience working in a diversified, global product development environment 
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt certification
  • Understand development methodologies - hardware / software 
  • Working knowledge of Agile\SCRUM methodology
  • Proficiency with MS Project tool, including ability to create and maintain complex schedules
