MCU/MPU Engineering Design Enablement is a central R&D hardware design organization within NXP supporting multiple business lines and products. The SOC Execution team within this organization is seeking a ASIC Design Assurance leader.
Job Summary
The ASIC Design Assurance leader will play a crucial role in enhancing the reliability and robustness of ASIC designs. This role focuses on refining current verification methods, instituting thorough design reviews and checkpoints, and fostering a culture of excellence within the ASIC engineering teams. The role is highly valued by our internal and external customers and partners. This leader will help enable correct by construction practices and quality mindset around SOC verification while establishing a feedback loop to implement learnings from past projects into SOCs in execution phase. This person will also help benchmark industry practices for SOC verification methods within NXP.
Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities (in-scope):
Enhance Verification Methods:
- Analyze and improve existing structural and functional verification processes to ensure they are comprehensive and effective.
- Implement advanced verification techniques and tools to detect and resolve design issues early in the development cycle.
- Develop and maintain detailed verification plans that cover all aspects of the ASIC design.
Design Reviews and Checkpoints:
- Organize and lead regular design reviews, ensuring thorough evaluation of design specifications, implementation, and verification results.
- Establish and enforce checkpoints throughout the design process to ensure all stages meet the required standards before progressing.
- Document and track review findings, follow up on action items, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
Promote a Culture of Excellence:
- Advocate for best practices in design and verification within the ASIC engineering teams.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate team members on improved verification techniques and processes.
- Encourage a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential design challenges.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with design, verification, and validation teams to ensure alignment on goals and methodologies.
- Facilitate effective communication between cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration and consistency of design efforts.
- Provide regular updates to management on the status of verification activities and design reviews.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in ASIC design and verification technologies and methodologies.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement changes to improve the overall design and verification workflow.
- Collect and analyze data from past projects to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Out of Scope Responsibilities:
- This role does not overlap with the existing teams dedicated to overall quality assurance, methodology development, or automation processes.
- The focus is on enhancing design processes and verification methods without infringing on the responsibilities of the quality team, methodology team, or automation team.
- The role will not involve the creation or maintenance of automated testing tools, which remains within the domain of the automation team
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge in (IC) development
- 15 years or more experience in RTL design, verification
- Demonstrated leadership and quality mindset to implement correct by construction methods
- Ability to work in a global project organization with project team distributed internationally
- Capable of motivating and influencing others, sustaining high energy and a positive attitude even in the face of stiff challenges and adversity
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely to various teams within and across the global divisions to effectively drive alignment across functions
- Be Result Oriented. Focus required on achieving aligned end goals
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English
- Detail oriented person with proactive and collaborative working style
Education
- Bachelor/Master in physics, electrical engineering or electronics (preferred) or technical university degree required.
