Job Description:

Senior Analyst – Risk & Quality Assurance


Summary/Objective


A Senior Analyst – Risk & Quality Assurance is an individual contributor acting as a member of Risk & Quality Assurance Function strengthening the Quality of risk management at Credit Administration function. The individual shall be responsible to review the quality of tasks performed by Credit Analysis team and share feedback on each of the samples reviewed. The individual shall be an expert in Portfolio Monitoring processes and shall act as a Subject Matter expert.


Quality Assurance


  • Lead the implementation and ongoing delivery of a robust Quality Assurance function in accordance with the coverage universe.
  • Undertake Sample based Quality review of the portfolio assigned and share the improvement areas with Credit Analysis team.
  • Ensure Process deficiencies / potential sensitive issues are identified and escalated as appropriate.
  • Assist to develop and establish QA policies, procedures, risk assessment and controls to drive effective QA Coverage and standards.
  • Participate in developing, testing, and optimizing the QA models/checkpoints used to measure accuracy and efficiency of the Credit Analysis team. 
  • Assist in the implementation of new policies, processes, and other related initiatives.
  • Ensure Risks within the scope of the role/team are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled, consistent with bank’s risk appetite and all policies and processes established within the risk governance framework.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, as applicable.
  • Monitor and report SLAs and KPIs for the multiple processes.
  • Work closely with Credit Analysis Director/ Leadership Team to identify specific errors as well as areas that may require additional remediation/ training.
  • Ensure compliance with all SVB policies and procedures, as applicable basis scope of work.
  • Provide Oversight and guidance over assessment of complex issues, structure potential solutions and drive effective resolution with stakeholders, as applicable

Business Partnering


  • Work closely with the Credit Analysis – Director / Leadership Team reporting on quality issues in a timely manner to ensure they are remediated.  Follow up as needed for additional testing.
  • Undertake change management for credit Analysis team and promote necessary culture changes (e.g., cross-skilling of resources)
  • Interact with respective senior management at Credit Administration to ensure that QA protocols are adequate for all the portfolios under review.
  • Interact with the LOB onshore counterparts for quick resolution of escalations.

People Management


  • Ensure Ongoing and timely feedback and coaching of fellow QA Staff as an endeavour of group learning to sustain strong control culture and an unwavering commitment to excellence in execution.
  • Provide new team members with adequate learning opportunities.
  • Support training programs for the team leveraging subject matter expertise and experience.
  • Act as a change agent coaching staff in areas with noted deficiencies and sharing any observed best practices.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one or team meetings to assess any knowledge gaps and remediate them.

Education and Experience


  • Post Graduation – Management or Commerce / MBA (Finance) / Chartered Accountant / ACCA
  • Up to 3-6 years of experience in credit risk management / Audit Function
  • Exposure to US accounting, GAAP, and IFRS
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS- Office tools like excel, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Power BI and Power Automate is desirable.
  • Knowledge of SQL is an added advantage

Physical Demands


The employee must have the ability to use a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, copier/fax machine, scanner and telephone. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  Employee must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: reviewing and analyzing information; transcribing; and/or viewing a computer screen. Employee may be required to make quick decisions as to when to escalate or directly address a situation, as well as handle the stress of such situations.  The work environment is indoors with a majority of time spent sitting at a desk.
