Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic SQL Server DBA Team Lead with expertise in Azure cloud technologies to join our team. As the Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of skilled database administrators and engineers while managing, optimizing, and ensuring the availability of SQL Server databases in both on-premises and Azure cloud environments. Your role will combine technical leadership, mentoring, and hands-on database management with a strong focus on best practices and process improvements in SQL Server database administration and cloud adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of SQL Server DBAs to ensure efficient database management and support across production, development, and testing environments.
• Oversee the administration, configuration, optimization, and maintenance of SQL Server databases across on-premises and Azure environments.
• Manage database performance, tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning to ensure top-tier performance across both on-premises and cloud systems.
• Take ownership of database security, including access control, encryption, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Design and implement automated database management workflows and monitoring solutions using PowerShell, Azure Automation, and third-party tools.
• Perform regular audits and reviews to ensure SQL Server and Azure databases adhere to best practices, security standards, and industry compliance regulations.
• Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues, providing expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for production issues and incidents.

Skills and Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or team lead role.
• In-depth expertise with MS SQL Server databases, including performance tuning, optimization, backups, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Virtual Machines (SQL Server on VMs), and Azure Data Services.
• Experience with tools like Dynatrace and Rubrik.
• Experience in DB migration from SQL server 2008/2012 to SQL Server 2022/2019 and Azure PaaS.
• Experience in designing and implementing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions using technologies such as Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Azure-native, Replication options.
• Strong knowledge of PowerShell and Azure Automation for automating routine DBA tasks, database monitoring, and maintenance.
• Experience in managing and optimizing ETL processes using tools like Azure Data Factory and SSIS.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD processes for database deployments, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Deep understanding of database security, compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS), and industry best practices.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of DBAs, drive performance improvements, and manage complex database environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar certifications.
• Familiarity with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or containerized databases.
• Experience with Power BI, Data Lakes, or Big Data solutions in Azure.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
