Citi’s Expense Optimization team is looking for a skilled and motivated data scientist who can leverage advanced analytics, systems mastery, and modelling techniques to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize processes, and support strategic initiatives across the bank. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and technology, to deliver actionable insights and drive measurable impact. This role will be an integral part of a global team and will require the ability to collaborate remotely and in-person with colleagues.
Responsibilities:
Work with large datasets to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business strategies.
Hypothesize, develop, and maintain data sets for multiple use cases on a consistent basis as well as leverage a variety of tools (i.e. SQL, Access, Python, etc.) to help improve those data sets continuously.
Be the point-person responsible for quality, timeliness and delivery of data and reporting.
Leverage data visualization to convert complex datasets into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
Leverage communication and diplomacy skills to guide and influence others on the right course of action.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
8+ years of experience
Financial/Business Analysis and/or credit/risk analysis with ability to impact key business drivers via a disciplined analytic process.
Provide analytic thought leadership.
Manage project planning effectively.
In-depth understanding of the various financial service business models.
Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and how to apply them to drive results.
Creative problem-solving skills.
Strong proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or any programming language used for data analysis.
Familiarity with financial systems.
Excellent communication skills.
Education:
Bachelors/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
