We have strong capabilities in areas such as editorial tooling, content delivery, design systems, advertising, and commerce that we will continue to improve and grow. Our vision is to additionally invest in areas such as video, subscriptions, membership, and next-generation editorial tools.You will be working alongside international colleagues across the US, London, and India. We strongly emphasize cross-functional working by partnering directly with Product, Data, Design, UX, and Delivery.About The Role:We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer (SE-3) to join our team responsible for developing and optimizing high-traffic APIs and backend services. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure REST and GraphQL APIs. This role requires a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills, the ability to mentor junior engineers, and the drive to make a significant impact on our platform’s architecture and performance.Responsibilities:- API Development & Optimization: Design, implement, and optimize REST and GraphQL APIs to handle large-scale traffic reliably and efficiently.
- Database Management: Manage and enhance database systems using MongoDB and ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, ensuring data integrity, optimized query performance, and scalability.
- Backend Development: Utilize Node.js for backend services, writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Knowledge of Java Spring Boot is a plus.
- Event-Driven Architecture: Experience with Kafka for event-streaming architectures is beneficial, enhancing our system’s real-time capabilities.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Develop unit and integration tests to maintain high code quality and ensure feature reliability. Participate in code reviews and enforce coding best practices.
- CI/CD Pipeline Management: Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, reliable deployments.
- Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor junior developers, provide code reviews, and share best practices. Foster collaborative team culture and work closely with cross-functional teams (Product, QA, Operations).
- Architecture & Scalability: Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions to enhance the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of our systems.
