We are seeking an experienced Database Software Engineer with deep expertise in PostgreSQL to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining database systems while working closely with our development teams. The ideal candidate will bring both database and software engineering skills, with a focus on PostgreSQL database management, performance optimization, and backend development in Java.
About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
- Bachelor/master's degree in computer science or related field) with good communication and logical skills.

- At least 4 years of experience developing web-based applications using Database.
- Extensive experience with PostgreSQL database design, administration, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database concept, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
- Knowledge of JSON and PostgreSQL support for JSON.
It would be great if you also have
- Have proficient in Java programming, with experience integrating Java applications with PostgreSQL databases
- Experience with AWS services, such as S3, RDS, EC2, Lambda.
- Exposure to Docker, and Linux.
What will you be doing in this role?
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that adheres to industry best practices and coding standards.
- Develop and maintain unit integration tests that are part of an automated continuous integration pipeline.
- Work closely with other stakeholders (e.g., QA, Product, UX, Devops) to release high-quality software.
- Participate in group improvement activities and initiatives to improve process and product quality in pursuit of excellence.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise during development, testing, and production.
- Stay up to date with new technologies and trends in software development.

About the Team
The Technology team supporting Derwent Innovation is primarily based in Bengaluru and few colleagues working from other parts of Karnataka. Our Tech Stack includes, Angular, Java, Spring, Oracle DB, Postgress, etc. We are in cloud native that includes ECS, EC2, S3, etc.
Hours of Work
This is permanent position with Clarivate. 9 hours of work per day including lunch break. We have hybrid work model, flexible and employee friendly work environment.
