Software Engineer 4 - Network Timing/SyncE Protocol Testing and Automation

Job overview: We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting and building test topologies, developing and executing test scenarios, test case automation for the features under test including testing around customer use case scenarios. You will collaborate with the development engineers to understand the technology and features in-depth before testing them, support them during the analysis and bug fixes, and also provide test engineering support for customer escalations, ensuring successful product deployments.

Responsibilities:

• Understanding and reviewing the software functional specifications and unit test plans
• Developing a comprehensive test plan for the features to be tested
• Manual testing and reporting defects found during execution
• Working closely with development team, assisting them with reproduction and debugging to understand root cause, and verifying bug fixes provided
• Design and building test topologies for an appropriate product coverage
• Automation of test cases using the automation library

Job Requirements:

• Should have an excellent understanding of testing methodologies
• JNCIA / JNCIS / JNCIP or equivalent certifications
• Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols
• Demonstrate proficiency in a programming language preferably Python
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• The candidate must be a self-starter, proactive and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently
• Able to work with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams 
• Knowledge of networking test equipment such as IXIA/Spirent.  
• Experience with Calnex/Paragon Timing test equipment not required but highly desirable.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science (or higher degree)
• 7+ years of relevant experience with strong automation background

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Timing and synchronization protocols (Synchronous Ethernet, G.8262, G.8262.1, 1588v2, G.8275.1, G.8275.2) highly desirable
