We are looking for a Software Engineer to lead the product design/implementation for features that enhance the experience of Amazon Customers. This Software Engineer will drive the design choices for the enhancements to the global Amazon shopping experience that make it easier for customers to find and select the offers that best meet their needs and make a purchase decision.
In this role you will work with a team of highly competent software development engineers to conceptualize, formulate, prototype, and productionize algorithms to capture customer behavior and solve business problems. A successful candidate will have the experience of successfully working cross-functionally across business and technology teams to deliver complex solutions. You will have a proven track record of owning and delivering world-class experiences to customers that raise-the-bar from an innovation, usability, and design perspective. You will shape our vision and road map, and integrate these efforts into a coherent buying experience.
Key job responsibilities
As a SDE on our team, you will:
• Design and implement features to enhance the experience of Amazon customers
• Conceptualize, formulate, prototype, and productionize algorithms to capture customer behavior and solve business problems.
• Lead / Collaborate with a team of engineers technically
• Work directly with a diverse scientific team of ML scientists, Economists, Behavioral Scientists, Business and Tech leadership team
• Have a large impact on the business (measured in $MM) impacting both end consumers and sellers
• Enhance high throughput systems handling xx,xxx tps with latency requirement in single digit milliseconds
• Design and implement new systems to handle the low latency high throughput requirements.
A day in the life
This role will work with Bangalore and Seattle based engineering teams to drive the design and implementation of features that enhances the Amazon customer experience. This role will be instrumental in building systems that can successfully handle the low latency (in single digits) and high throughput requirements handling xx,xxx,xxx TPS. As a software engineer, this role will technically lead/collaborate with a team of engineers and also mentor them to be successful engineers. This role is expected to understand the business requirements and propose technical solutions to solve business problems. Often this role will be expected to prototype and productionize the solutions to enhance our algorithms. This person will partner strongly the engineering and partner teams across the Amazon Consumer Org to deliver the committed projects and influence partner teams towards the right solution to achieve desired customer experience. As part of the job, this role will work directly with a diverse scientific team of ML scientists, Economists, Behavioral Scientists, Business and Tech leadership team closely. This role will have a large impact on the business (measured in $MM) impacting both end customers and sellers.
This role sits within the broader Core Shopping organization, which owns the technology stack for the Amazon store worldwide from the front-end customer experience to back-end service technology and website hosting.

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
