Key Responsibilities:
Transportation Operations Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day transportation operations, including vehicle scheduling, routing, and fleet management.
- Coordinate transportation logistics to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods, materials, or passengers.
- Monitor transportation activities, track performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of transportation-related data, such as fuel consumption, mileage, and maintenance logs.
Fleet Management:
- Manage the organization's fleet of vehicles, including procurement, maintenance, repairs, and disposal.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for vehicles to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate vehicle inspections and licensing to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safety requirements.
- Monitor and manage fleet-related expenses, such as fuel consumption, repairs, and insurance.
Transportation Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including driver licensing, vehicle registrations, and safety standards.
- Stay updated on transportation regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures to promote safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance with transportation laws and regulations.
Vendor Management:
- Liaise with transportation service providers, suppliers, and contractors to ensure quality and timely service delivery.
- Evaluate vendors' performance, negotiate contracts, and service level agreements.
- Monitor vendor performance, resolve any issues, and ensure adherence to contract terms.
- Manage vendor invoices, payments, and performance metrics.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
- Prepare and manage the transportation budget, including forecasting expenses and tracking costs.
- Monitor and control transportation-related expenses.
- Review and approve invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize transportation expenditures.
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including procurement, operations, and warehouse teams, to understand their transportation needs and provide support.
- Communicate transportation updates, changes, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, addressing transportation-related inquiries and concerns.
Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate transportation operations, identify areas for improvement, and implement process enhancements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in transportation management.
- Implement new transportation-related initiatives, such as route optimization, vehicle tracking systems, or safety programs.
- Analyze transportation data and metrics to identify efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
