Department Description
Data Services Group is part of the Technology Infrastructure Services (TIS) function and is responsible for providing a secure, real-time and agile Enterprise Data Platform. As part of our Relational Data Services, we provide data storage and retrieval, security, replication and migration and HA/DR services through multi-vendor relational database solutions including Oracle, SQL Server and Sybase. Support for big data, data acquisition, data pipelines, data transformation (ETL/ELT), data visualisation and enterprise data lake capability are part of our Emerging Data Services. We maintain our monitoring solutions and integrations with various other enterprise platforms via multiple channels. Most of our services are available via our automation and self-service platform, ICTECH. We achieve industry connect by leading and participating in various user groups, meet-ups and other engagement platforms.
Purpose of the Role
The Senior Technical Analyst- Oracle DBA is responsible for working on database project delivery and / or production support activities from a technical perspective. Typically this will be day to day activities supporting database infrastructure including solving production and pre-production issues, working on change, incidents, problems, service improvement and engineering initiatives. In addition to this the Technical Specialist also acts as a trusted technology advisor to the business providing guidance and consultancy as required.
This role demands strong technical skills with a focus to ensure maximum uptime of the production database infrastructure. Working as a member of a global database support team the successful candidate will play a pro-active role in the support of Fidelity’s database estate. The role requires strong Oracle database technical skills across various UNIX and Linux platforms. DB2 database exposure is preferred, but not required
The role will involve regular BAU (Business As Usual) support during UK business hours and will involve 24 x 7 oncall support and weekend working. The candidate will maintain focus on following engineering principles, delivering robust, automated and innovative, hybrid multi-cloud data platform capability.
