Senior Software Engineer (java)

Introduction

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (java) for Platform System Integration and QA in the department Architecture and Integration.

Role:

We are seeking a skilled Java Developer with knowledge in test automation to join our dynamic team. The primary responsibility of this role is to automate tests at the integration level across multiple components, including both UI and APIs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java and a proven track record in developing and maintaining test automation frameworks to support smooth and fast integration.

 Here are some key tasks associated with this role:

• Write clean, efficient, and reusable code in the test automation framework to ensure long-term maintainability.
• Adhere to best practices for test automation, including naming conventions, code organization, and handling test data.
• Develop and maintain test automation frameworks for both UI and API testing.
• Automate integration tests for multiple components to ensure seamless functionality.
• Proactively enhance the existing test framework to improve efficiency and reduce the time taken for automated regression testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, Integration manager, QA and architects to understand testing requirements, address issues, ensure comprehensive test coverage, deadlines and needs of Integration initiatives and team.
• Identify and implement improvements to the test automation process.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test automation.
• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices in test automation.

Other requirements:

• A Proven experience as a Java Developer with minimum of 6+ years working experience developing in JAVA. Knowledge of Gatling is an advantage.
• Experience in automated testing & frameworks and ability learn fast the test framework for further building and maintenance.
• Domain knowledge in logistics, warehousing is an advantage.
• Has experience in Agile (SAFE) environment.
• Knowledgeable on tools with experience in the following:
  • Working knowledge of developing/deployment of test systems/frameworks within cloud systems (Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • API and UI Automation Testing: Playwright, Cypress (required some work experience in at least one option)
  • BDD Framework: Cucumber (Java, JavaScript), Gherkin
  • Experience in working with GIT (Bitbucket), Jira, QC, docker, CICD (flux or similar), Kafka, etc.

The Integration team is a group of technical test engineers, Integration managers along with architects responsible for Integration of platforms (Airports, Warehouse and Parcel). They are responsible to integration various modules, test based on requirements & quality KPI’s, and make platform releases. The team is part of the Technology department (former Research & Development), plays a key role in achieving Vanderlande strategic ambitions.
