Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Mission of the Role
We are looking for you, a passionate software engineer with the capability to inspire and coach people to create great software. You have been in the trenches long enough to know that teams can only succeed as a unit in which everyone is part of the solution. That is why you look to pass on your technical excellence to empower as many around you as possible, so you can create the best solution to a problem together. You do not see yourself as being attached to a particular programming language, but as an inspiring polyglot that welcomes the chance to learn new programming languages best suited for the job.

•5+ years of experience in engineering software, with demonstrable experience throughout the entire stack, and a strong background in Node.js, React, and relational databases (ideally PostgreSQL)

•Fluent in JavaScript and Typescript.•Writing scalable back-ends using NodeJS.•Experience in designing and building secure RESTful APIs.

•Experienced in working under CI/CD workflows, and using version control tools like gitlab/ github/ bitbucket including its pipeline configuration

•The ability to build clean, well encapsulated packages to a high standard.

•The ability to write unit tests and what's the good and bad sides of measuring code coverage.

•Full vocabulary of core creational, structural and behavioural software design patterns, and the ability to consistently employ the cache, pool, strategy, chain of responsibility, observer and visitor patterns as appropriate

•The ability to effectively manage code complexity in a large code base through the appropriate application of software architecture principles (layering, modularisation, etc.) and software design patterns

•Experience in unit and end-to-end testing, mocking frameworks (Jest, Cypress/Playwright)

You will:
•Bring suggestions and ideas on how to solve our customers' problems in the best way

•Be current with the latest trends in industry and academia and always look to implement novel ideas in GfK's predictive analytics solutions

•Work closely with Engineering and Product managers to translate business use cases to workable solutions that can be delivered to Production

•Work with the architects and an Agile team to influence the overall system architecture and performance goals

•Ensure timely delivery of software projects while promoting and maintaining high quality

•Ensure high software quality by writing unit and integration tests in TDD approach

•Suggest initiatives (e.g. training) that improve working efficiency and quality

•Actively contributing in agile practices, such as estimating and planning and retrospectives
