Senior Software Engineer, Chennai

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be part of a team of smart, highly skilled technologists who are passionate about learning and prototyping cutting-edge technologies. Right now, our platform is based on Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS, Apache Ignite, Postgres, Python, Elastic Search, and Azure. We continue to adopt the best of breed in cloud-native, low-latency technologies. We value CI/CD in everything that we develop. Our team is co-located and agile, with central technology hubs in Chicago, Madrid, Toronto, Chennai and Pune.  

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain stable, reliable databases in PostgreSQL. 
• Design and manage data model changes to handle application requirements, solve database issues, help optimize database queries and processes, provide data management support while ensuring top performance of the database. 
• Be the expert in writing complex, maintainable, quality code for data migrations, database and query optimization, configurations. 
• Direct, coach team and participate in full software development life cycle (SDLC) of cloud-based solutions – conceptualize, design, develop, test, deploy and support/enhance. 
• Develop subject matter expertise of the database products/components developed and supported. 

• Minimum B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
• 8+ years of applicable experience. 
• Mastery in relational databases, including PostgreSQL. 
• Strong fundamentals and hands-on experience and leadership capability in database maintenance and architecture. 
• Hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure a plus. 
• Ability to solve complex challenges independently, setting standards for team to follow. 
• Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across cross-functional technology teams and business stakeholders including Product Leaders, Senior Tech Leaders and Program team.
