Overview
The Mastercard Merchant Acceptance Program is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to drive our customer experience strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.
Merchant Acceptance Program consists of products & solutions that aim to increase Mastercard's acceptance footprint and improving quality of card holder experience at the point of interaction.
Role:
Work as a Senior engineer to deliver end-to-end product development.
Full Stack Development using UI technologies, Microservices, Messaging/Event Driven Frameworks, CI/CD on a Cloud Native environment
Ensure benchmarks are met on quality, performance, info security and other NFRs
Guide and mentor teams effectively as per needs. Train developers on the technologies needed.
Communicate effectively and coordinate with various global groups in MasterCard to ensure success of the projects, including Business Owners, Product Owners, Enterprise Architecture teams, other product teams etc.
Lead various initiatives for improving automation, defect metrics and overall quality. Conduct various Proofs-of-concept as per technological and business needs
Take responsibility for deciding the relevant tools, technologies and patterns that need to be implemented for the service
Knowledge/Experience (preferred):
Knowledge/Experience (preferred):
* Has ability to write secure code in two or more languages (UI technologies – React / Angular and Javascript – primary skill set, Java and API development – secondary skill set) and familiar with secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE etc) and vulnerability management
* Primary skill - Web [Angular, React, Javascript, jQuery, CSS, HTML]
* Secondary skill - Java [J2EE, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA]
* Excellent understanding of distributed cache and messaging system
Database [Postgres] – well versed in writing efficient and optimized SQL queries
Has vast experience in full stack development (ability to work on both API and UI layer)
* Understands the basic engineering principles used in building and running mission critical software capabilities (security, customer experience, testing, operability, simplification, service-oriented architecture)
* Understands and implements standard branching (e.g., Gitflow) and peer review practices
* Understands use cases for UI state management, localization and middleware to implement efficient code
* Understands and implements Application Programming Interface (API) standards and cataloguing to drive API/service adoption and commercialization
* Has skills to author test code with lots of smaller tests followed by few contract tests at service level and fewer journey tests at the integration level (Test Pyramid concept)
* Has skills to collaborate with team and business stakeholders to estimate requirements (e.g., story pointing) and prioritize based on business value
Has skills to elaborate and estimate non-functional requirements, including security (e.g., data protection, authentication, authorization), regulatory, and performance (SLAs, throughput, transactions per second)
* Has skills to orchestrate release workflows and pipelines, and apply standardized pipelines via APIs to achieve CI and CD using industry standard tools (e.g., Jenkins, AWS/Azure pipelines).
Has skills to understand, report, and optimize delivery metrics to continuously improve upon them (e.g., velocity, throughput, lead time, defect leakage, burndown)
* Has skills to document and drive definition-of-done for requirements to meet both business and operational needs
* Understands how to build robust tests to minimize defect leakage by performing regression, performance, deployment verification, and release testing
* Has skills to conduct product demos and co-ordinate with product owners to drive product acceptance signoffs
