Job Summary:


In this role, you will provide IT operational/technical/functional support. You will define the IT infrastructure, network, and communication requirements for office, implement and support hardware deployments, and evaluate new software upgrades and enhancements. Your work will ensure information technology is tailored to the projects\office, driving successful outcomes and project satisfaction.

  • Receives operational direction from the Office Manager for project execution and functional direction from Information and Digital (I&D) Manager
  • Performs assignments independently with instructions as to the general results expected.
  • May receive technical guidance from a senior discipline team member on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for project\office.

  • Provides leadership, technical direction and assigns work to discipline subordinates or others who assist in information systems activities and has full responsibility for team’s quality of work performed. Covers areas of responsibility. In particular

  • Works closely with the Office Manager and Department Manager to align his work.
  • Makes frequent contact with project leaders as necessary to gather or give status information, address project automation needs and requirements.
  • Contacts discipline staff specialists as needed for specialized information technology activities.
  • Contacts vendor representative, equipment vendors, and other related groups and customers internal to IS&T on technical and/or billing issues.

Major Responsibilities:


  • Performs Project IT lead duties. Develops, executes, and maintains the IT systems and processes for projects
  • Performs network/telecommunications lead duties. Oversee installations, test and support of wide-area and/or local-area network telecommunications components.
  • Performs infrastructure operations lead duties. Oversee installations, test and support of server and storage systems.
  • Provides deployment, installation, operation service and maintenance of a variety of information technology related hardware, software, and services. Escalates, coordinates and resolves high visibility operations issues.
  • Leads team members responsible for a specialized area of information technology, including network/telecommunications, information security, information technology engineering, customer support, or infrastructure operations.
  • Leads team members and provides technical direction, development, training and mentoring to subordinates.
  • Develops, executes, and coordinates project automation requirements while monitoring IT industry innovations to add value to work processes; disseminates best practices.
  • Establishes technology and work processes standards for information technology implementation.
  • Processes and implements non-standard requests according to global/regional automation policies and procedures.
  • Performs information security lead duties. Develop and implement policies, procedures and standards that support the information security program, to protect against unauthorized usage, modification, disclosure and destruction of data/systems. Identify key threats and risks to information and other assets and provide management with pertinent information to assess and apply adequate protection as necessary.
  • Performs customer support lead duties. Oversees customer issues and requests are resolved, and departmental procedures and processes are followed. Including Issues reports and metrics of customer support operations and activities.
  • Resolves customer service issues and problems within realistic project timescales.
  • Arranges, prepares and conducts meetings, workshops and All Hands presentations as required.
  • Advises on technology or work processes and assesses technical limitations with operations realities.
  • Collects and tracks IS&T metrics to gauge project progression.
  • Leads IS&T process improvement and safety initiatives.

Education and Experience Requirements:


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelors or higher level degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other IT related field.
  • 9+ years experience in information technology.
  • 7+ years experience planning and management of IT products and services for a project.
  • 7+ years experience in the development and execution of Project IT\Automation plans.
  • 3+ years experience in supervising, developing and coaching employees.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • ITIL, PRINCE2 or related certification.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification.
  • Demonstrated skill in supervising, developing and coaching employees.

Required Knowledge, skills and abilities:


  • Comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure systems architecture concepts, configurations and standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware and operating systems.
  • Understanding knowledge of network architecture (TCP/IP) configuration/deployment, operations management, security, and technology.
  • Ability to work with customers to understand their requirements and expectations by asking questions and listening.
  • Ability to work closely with suppliers to define expectations and ensure quality of delivered products and services.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills that enables both independent and/or team approach to assigned technical work tasks.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team and can perform independently when required to get the job completed.
  • Ability to identify, track, escalate and resolve problems using comprehensive techniques and methods of troubleshooting end-user problems and take responsibility for the resolution of service problems.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the preparation, coordination and execution of project proposals and IT plans.\
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management concepts and tools.
  • Ability to translate technical terms to layperson's terms and present them to audiences outside of IS&T.
