IntroductionIBM Z Product Managers deliver business results by bringing high-quality products to market by defining the strategy and execution plans while continuously innovating to maintain market leadership. The z/OS DevOps (zDevX) organization is looking for Product Managers who are experts at market and business analysis, product definition, product roadmap, pricing, ecosystem, channel strategy, strategic planning, competitive analysis, innovation and leading cross-functional teams. They manage the product lifecycle from inception through growth, maturity, and end of life stages and define partnership and ecosystem strategy for product execution. Product Managers maximize internal and external relationships interfacing with design, product marketing, ecosystem partners, analysts, engineering, sales and services teams to deliver a successful product with defined routes to market.

Your Key Responsibilities:
- Product Ownership and Growth:
- Your duties will be to drive clients bring modern development practices to z/OS help customers adopt GenAI in their development process. You will be responsible for owning one or more key initiatives, taking them from concept to production and working through the product management process and discipline along the way. You will collaborate with design, development, operations staff, and other fellow PMs to bring these initiatives to market. To work with IBM Sales, Business Partners, GSIs to help with product adoption and to increase the mindshare and marketshare of Z DevX products.
- Strategic Leadership & Partnership:
- Z DevX Product Managers are responsible for owning business aspects of these initiatives as well as ensuring that technical requirements have been met by the appropriate teams prior to product/feature launch. As a member of the Z DevX Product Management Team, you have the opportunity to manage different initiatives like working with IBM research in utilizing GenAI in existing products to bringing new products to market using GenAI
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Championing the Voice of the Customer:
- Demonstrate a track record of championing the voice of the customer. Your approach includes conducting customer-driven usability studies and hypothesis-driven experimentation. B2B Product Management or Product Development experience, with responsibility for researching feature value, developing features, and managing the lifecycle of offerings in Mainframe.

Client facing experience:
- Experience managing risks and resolving issues that affect deployment scope, schedule and quality, and communicating those issues to affected parties early and often Demonstrated communication skills in a client facing environment.
End-to-End Product Development Expertise:
- Expertise in either the DevOps or Hybrid Cloud or Application Modernization topic areas. This experience could be a wide range of possibilities demonstrating an understanding of the IBM Z DevOps space and application environment space on IBM Z
Stakeholder Management:
- Solid People and Project Management skills, as this person will need to adjust quickly to get best results from unique or unexpected scenarios. Candidates will need to iterate product plans with sponsor users, knowing that some products will need to evolve from their initial MVP.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- 5+ years of Product Management experience, with responsibility for researching feature value, developing features, and managing the lifecycle of offerings, preferably on IBM Z or Enterprise DevOps
- 10+years of software engineering experience
- Knowledge of GenAI concepts and real life implementation experience.
- Experience with using tools such at Aha! and Jira.
- Experience driving business case development
- Sales and/or marketing experience, especially in GenAI space
- Mainframe System Programming / Application development experience.
- Familiar with SaaS based product management
