Key Responsibilities:1. Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:
  • Develop preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules for HEMM equipment such as sprey-mec, utimec, utilift, scaler.
  • Ensure the execution of OEM-recommended maintenance schedules and implement condition-based monitoring techniques.
  • Monitor equipment health parameters and create action plans to minimize breakdowns.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams and vendors for planned and unplanned maintenance.
2. Equipment Performance & Reliability:
  • Track Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct failure analysis (RCA, FMEA) to identify recurring issues and propose long-term solutions.
  • Optimize fleet utilization by reducing downtime and improving availability.
  • Ensure efficient tracking and management of work orders, job cards, and service history.
3. Spare Parts & Inventory Management:
  • Work with procurement teams to forecast spare parts requirements and avoid stock shortages.
  • Optimize inventory control and cost-effective spare part usage.
  • Maintain an updated Bill of Materials (BOM) for all critical HEMM assets.
4. Cost Control & Budgeting:
  • Assist in maintenance budget planning and monitor expenditures.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in maintenance operations.
  • Evaluate and recommend cost-effective repair vs. replacement strategies for major components.
5. Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures, LOTOTO protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures in maintenance activities.
  • Maintain all necessary statutory documentation and compliance reports.
6. Coordination & Reporting:
  • Liaise with operations, production, procurement, and OEM service providers for smooth execution of maintenance plans.
  • Generate and analyze equipment performance reports, downtime analysis, and maintenance KPIs.
  • Present findings and improvement strategies in maintenance review meetings.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Monitor equipment performance metrics like operating hours, component wear, and failure rates.
    • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Generate reports on equipment reliability, maintenance costs, and downtime to inform decision-making.




  • Coordination and Collaboration:
    • Work closely with maintenance crews, operators, and engineering teams to ensure smooth execution of maintenance activities.
    • Communicate maintenance schedules and priorities to relevant stakeholders.
    • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of spare parts.




  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
    • Identify potential safety hazards related to maintenance activities and implement preventive measures.
    • Conduct risk assessments on critical equipment and develop mitigation plans.




  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to optimize maintenance processes, reduce costs, and enhance equipment reliability.
    • Implement new maintenance techniques and technologies to improve efficiency.
    • Conduct training programs for maintenance personnel on new procedures and equipment.
    Required Skills for HEMM Planning Engineer

    To excel in the role of a HEMM Planning Engineer, the following skills are essential:


    1. Technical Skills:

    HEMM Maintenance & Troubleshooting – Strong knowledge of heavy earth-moving machinery like excavators, dumpers, dozers, loaders, graders, drilling rigs, and crushers.
    Preventive & Predictive Maintenance – Experience in developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
    Condition Monitoring Techniques – Knowledge of vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and ultrasound diagnostics.
    Reliability Engineering – Understanding of Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
    Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) – Experience with SAP PM, Oracle, Maximo, or other CMMS software for work order management, asset tracking, and performance analysis.
    Root Cause Analysis (RCA) – Ability to analyze failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
    Spare Parts & Inventory Management – Knowledge of spare parts planning, BOM (Bill of Materials), and stock optimization.
    Hydraulic & Electrical Systems – Understanding of hydraulic circuits, electrical troubleshooting, and PLC-based control systems in HEMM.


    2. Project & Operations Management Skills:

    Maintenance Scheduling & Planning – Ability to create efficient maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
    Equipment Optimization – Expertise in fleet utilization, cost-benefit analysis, and performance improvement.
    Budgeting & Cost Control – Experience in estimating maintenance costs, tracking expenses, and implementing cost-saving measures.
    Vendor & Contractor Management – Coordination with OEMs, service providers, and procurement teams for parts and services.


    3. Compliance & Safety Skills:

    Safety Protocols & Regulations – Strong knowledge of industry standards, LOTOTO procedures, and risk assessments.
    Environmental & Statutory Compliance – Adherence to mining and industrial safety regulations for equipment maintenance.
    Documentation & Reporting – Ability to maintain logs, service reports, compliance records, and performance dashboards.


    4. Soft Skills:

    Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking – Ability to identify issues, analyze data, and implement solutions effectively.
    Communication & Team Coordination – Strong ability to interact with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and management.
    Decision-Making & Leadership – Capability to make quick and informed decisions under pressure.
    Adaptability & Resilience – Ability to work in challenging environments such as mining sites and construction projects.
