Working cross-functionally, we support PayU’s business objectives by managing direct and indirect tax matters, overseeing audits, and handling complex tax disputes. Our team is dynamic, collaborative, and integral to PayU’s success in navigating an evolving regulatory landscape in both domestic and international contexts. About the Role: As the Senior Manager - Taxation, you will be a hands-on leader responsible for managing and overseeing direct tax compliance. You will lead efforts in compiling data for audits, handling tax disputes and litigations, and ensuring accurate tax reconciliations. Additionally, you’ll drive process improvements, providing strategic input on M&A transactions, and ensuring all taxation processes align with regulatory standards. This role requires a keen understanding of international tax regulations and offers an opportunity to contribute to PayU's strategic financial initiatives. A successful candidate will work closely with, and provide support to other tax team members, the business and wider finance teams (Example; Controllership and Treasury) as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for overall tax compliance management;
Responsible for tax planning, including share/business restructuring, risk management, transfer pricing and international tax planning;
Respond to queries / notices / assessments /surveys / summons raised by tax authorities; Handle the tax litigation and maintain the good relationship with the tax authorities.
Explore efficient solutions for tax optimization and work together with the finance team to ensure tax policies being complied for all operations
Keep abreast of new tax rules, best market practices and provide timely updates to management and other stakeholders and provide advice to change existing practices if necessary
Lead process improvement initiatives to address risk and efficiencies through automation and optimization of technology.
Requirements:
Education: CA or equivalent qualification in taxation, with a strong academic background.
Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years in a tax role, with extensive experience in direct tax compliance, audits, and litigation. Prior experience with M&A and international tax is highly preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficient knowledge of Indian tax regulations and international tax laws; experience in using tax software and ERP systems.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team, driving results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to navigate complex tax issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring all tax records and reports are meticulously maintained.
