Function Description:
American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the leading payment card issuer for businesses in the United States and various international markets and supports business owners and companies with products and services to help them run and grow their businesses. Control Management at American Express is a comprehensive and integrated program crafted to identify, define, report, monitor and control operational risk exposures of various business processes. It supports business units in meeting all relevant operational risk, regulatory and compliance requirements.
GCS Control Management team strives to ensure that GCS has a strong first line of defense, playing an active role in supporting the growth of business, meet its objectives and demonstrating an effective control framework.
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting into the Director - GCS Control Management COE - India, this Band 35 position will support to effectively carry out the Smart Monitoring processes for GCS.
Job Responsibilities:
Among the specific responsibilities, this role will include:
- Manage transformation of control testing and monitoring environment in Global Commercial Services (GCS) through automating proactive and reactive risk identification via Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
- Partner with key stakeholders (Business Owners, Product team, Compliance, Operational Excellence) to analyze automated monitoring/testing opportunities and develop detailed requirements.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary liaison between development team and partners ensuring accurate information flows within projects.
- Manage partners expectations/project timelines by leading the resolution of blockers impeding development progress.
- Perform analytics/modelling and develop proof-of-concept monitoring solutions using big data tools/assets.
- Assist in design and maintenance of operational risk frameworks, ensuring programs are being carried out timely and accurately.
Minimum Qualifications/Prior Experience:
- 8+ Years leadership experience in Risk Management, Data Analytics, or similar role.
- Preferably Tenured People leader (in direct capacity)
- Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or similar fields within data analytics/computing space.
- Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to analyze, develop and present information from complex and disparate datasets using. Experience in applying both quantitative methods and business knowledge to build actionable insights.
- Technical expertise with extensive hands-on coding experience in data analytics using SQL, Python, Big Data, Data Lakes, Spark, Hive, Yellowbrick. Knowledge of additional analytics programming languages is a plus.
- Excellent communication and writing skills. Ability to put together visualizations with varying level of detail.
- Experience in visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Cognos or similar.
- Experience in administering/leading agile development teams and use of agile development tools such as Airtable, confluence, GitHub, JIRA etc. Experience as power user a plus (e.g., admin, automation, etc.)
- Experience in Financial Services industry, Process Risk Self-Assessment, Risk Management with focus on risk monitoring and control automation.
