Job Description:


The Sr. Manager - Scientific Services (India) will play a pivotal role in providing scientific leadership and strategic direction for medical communications initiatives within the Indian market. This role requires a deep understanding of the Indian healthcare landscape, strong scientific acumen, and proven experience in medical communications. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for developing and executing high-quality scientific content, fostering relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), establishing partnerships with relevant societies, and collaborating effectively with medical affairs teams of pharmaceutical companies.


Key Responsibilities:


Scientific Content Development & leadership:


  • Lead the development and management of scientifically accurate and impactful medical communication materials, encompassing scientific platforms, medical education programs (slide decks, webinars, workshops), publications (manuscripts, abstracts, posters), digital content (websites, videos, infographics), and medical information resources.
  • Ensure all content is aligned with client objectives, strategic imperatives, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain in-depth therapeutic area knowledge and stay abreast of the latest scientific data, clinical trial outcomes, and industry trends.
  • Provide scientific review and quality control for all deliverables to ensure accuracy, clarity, and medical integrity.

Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Management:


  • Identify, map, and cultivate relationships with national and regional KOLs in relevant therapeutic areas within India.
  • Develop and implement KOL engagement plans to foster strong, mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for KOL interactions, including advisory boards, speaker training programs, and content collaboration.
  • Manage KOL databases and track engagement activities.

Society Partnership & Collaboration:


  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with key medical and scientific societies in India.
  • Collaborate with societies on joint initiatives such as educational programs, scientific meetings, and collaborative projects.
  • Represent the company at society meetings and events, building brand visibility and credibility.

Collaboration with Medical Affairs Teams of Pharmaceutical Companies:


  • Work closely with medical affairs teams of pharmaceutical clients to understand their strategic objectives and communication needs in the Indian market.
  • Collaborate on the development of integrated medical communication plans that align with client medical affairs strategies.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, providing scientific expertise and strategic insights.
  • Ensure seamless communication and collaboration between our team and client medical affairs teams.

Strategic Planning & Business Development:


  • Contribute to the development of strategic proposals and pitches for new business opportunities.
  • Provide scientific input into project scoping, budgeting, and timelines.
  • Identify and evaluate new medical communication trends and technologies relevant to the Indian market.
  • Support the growth of the Scientific Services team in India by mentoring junior team members and contributing to internal training initiatives.

Compliance & Ethical Standards:


  • Ensure all medical communication activities are conducted in accordance with ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements in India.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of local regulations related to pharmaceutical promotion and medical communications.
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure compliance in all projects.

Qualifications:


  • Education: MBBS / MD.
  • Additional Courses in Certified Medical Publication Professional or equivalent courses / Management degree will be an added advantage.
  • In-depth understanding of the Indian healthcare system, pharmaceutical industry, and regulatory environment.

Experience:


  • Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in medical communications, preferably within a medical communications agency or pharmaceutical/biotech company.
  • Experience working with pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device clients is preferred. Experience working with global clients will be an added advantage.
  • Established network of KOL relationships within India is highly preferred.

Skills:


  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear and engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with KOLs, clients, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with digital communication platforms.
