Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will have experience in Management for SAP functional resources across multiple domanis and Project Management experience along with a technical background in SAP Applications and Infrastructure.
The Sr. Manager, IT SAP - Functional will be owning and responsible for leading the functional delivery of SAP for multiple business units within Thermo Fisher. The role will work in conjunction with IT Divisional and Shared Services leaders to develop and implement IT & Business technology strategy / roadmap along with supporting corporate, group, and divisional IT priorities. Sr. Manager, IT SAP functional will lead SAP functional resources to define and deliver on SAP operations.
Sr. Manager, IT SAP provides functional knowledge, system design techniques, methodologies, tools and standards applied in SAP IT and business environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Developing a team of SAP professionals and navigating within a large IT organization with a high number of technologies and technical disciplines
- Act as the main point of contact between the Business Units and Groups/Divisions IT for SAP delivery
- Designing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with key collaborators both within the business and IT
- Understand the strategic business direction in an effort to find opportunities for technology innovation and assist with IT strategy development
- Facilitate the prioritization of SAP projects for the business and advocating for their priority within the division/group
- Be accountable for the technology portfolio of SAP applications that supports the business which includes the delivery and support of SAP systems
- Coordinate and assist the technical/functional efforts of other groups and vendors to ensure the effective maintenance and improvements of SAP systems
- Leading multi-functional delivery working closely with Functional and business leads
- The role will hire, mentor and train employees on SAP functional operations
- Able to lead major business processes or change initiatives that have impact beyond immediate functional field
- Sets objectives and delivers results that have a significant impact within the context of wide operational areas
- Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise
- Lead large projects and initiatives, coordinating the SAP functional resources and engaging with other project personnel to ensure business application systems are developed in a way that aligns with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices
- Provide technical expertise, usually on configuration, analysis, design, and development of SAP operations
- Provide estimates on SAP functional delivery
- Cross team communication and collaboration
- Oversee and report to senior leaders and management on the status of project efforts, anticipating/identifying issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals and implementing corrective actions
- Participate in cross time-zone discussions and decisions
- Champion the implementation and alignment of IT SDLC processes
Requirements (Must Have)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with at least 15+ years overall experience in SAP Technical including 4+ years of handling SAP functional resources
- Good interpersonal and excellent documentation skills are a must
- Ability to work independently to achieve results but also to participate successfully as a great teammate
- Knowledge of creating and maintaining detailed project plans applying Microsoft products
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Demonstrable experience with project management/delivery / ITIL in a regulated environment
- Strong analytical skills required, including a detailed understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and to communicate effectively with diverse group of executives, leaders, and domain experts
- Ability to lead in a matrixed organization with multiple business partners and IT colleagues
Software requirements
- SAP ECC 4.7, ECC 6.0 and SAP S/4
- 15+ years previous SAP functional experience
- Completed at least 3 full cycle implementations
- Experience with S/4 Hana, UI5 and Fiori
- Strong SAP Technical understanding
- Experience in several of the following modules: SD/SM, FI/CO, MM/PP, QM
Requirements (Desired)
- Relevant certifications are a plus
- Knowledge of CRM preferred
- Knowledge of BI preferred
