Job Title: Senior Manager – Indirect Tax (GST)

Job Overview:
Our Client is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Manager for our Indirect Tax team to lead and manage GST compliance, litigation coordination, and overall indirect tax functions in a listed company with a turnover of over INR 600 Crores. As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing GST-related activities across multiple states, ensuring compliance, managing tax disputes, and leading a high-performing team.
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Accountant with 5-6 years of experience in indirect taxation (GST), including prior experience in managing teams and collaborating with cross-functional departments.
Key Responsibilities:
• GST Compliance:
• Oversee and ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, etc.) in compliance with the law.
• Manage input tax credit reconciliation, ensuring it is correctly claimed and accounted for.
• Supervise GST audits and assessments, identify potential risks, and implement solutions to mitigate tax liabilities.
• GST Litigation & Dispute Resolution:
• Lead GST-related litigation processes, working with external consultants, legal teams, and tax authorities.
• Manage disputes and appeals to minimize liabilities and ensure tax positions are robust and defensible.
• Develop strategies to resolve any GST-related issues quickly and effectively.
• Multiple State GST Management:
• Oversee and manage GST registrations across multiple states, ensuring adherence to state-specific compliance requirements.
• Ensure that the business is fully compliant with different state GST laws, managing renewals and updates as required.
• Team Leadership & Development:
• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of indirect tax professionals to ensure efficient functioning of the department.
• Provide guidance, training, and career development opportunities for team members.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, ensuring that team members are aligned with business goals and GST compliance requirements.
• Tax Planning & Strategy:
• Monitor changes in GST laws and provide actionable recommendations to optimize tax efficiency and compliance.
• Collaborate with senior management on the strategic planning of tax matters related to new projects, contracts, and business decisions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Work closely with other departments (finance, procurement, sales, supply chain) to provide practical guidance on GST-related matters.
• Ensure effective communication and alignment between teams on tax issues affecting the business.
Qualifications:
• Education:
• Chartered Accountant (CA) with 5-6 years of post-qualification experience in indirect taxation (GST).
• Experience:
• Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in GST compliance, litigation, and indirect tax management.
• Experience in managing a team, including mentoring and developing talent.
• Expertise in handling GST compliance for organizations with a turnover of ₹600 Crores or more and experience with multi-state GST registrations.
• Skills & Competencies:
• In-depth knowledge of GST laws and tax compliance processes.
• Proven experience in managing teams, fostering collaboration, and driving performance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP) and tax compliance software.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in a listed company or large corporate setup.
• Familiarity with other indirect taxes and cross-border taxation.
