Overview:
The PROJECT MANAGER role includes, but is not limited to the following: project planning and management responsibilities: execute project plan; provide project direction and guidance to team; monitor project funding and financial performance; and ensure team productivity (quality and quantity). This position is for a Project Manager who manages the sustainment of commercial technical publications.
Title: Senior Lead Engineer - Projects
Experience: 7-10 years
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the revision of new and existing technical data deliverables for commercial aircraft programs within the Interiors Strategic Business Unit (SBU), including Component Maintenance Manuals/Publications (CMMs/CMPs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs) and provisioning data (T-Files).
- Interact with key stakeholders, both internal and external, as part of a cross-functional project team, including program management, engineering, quality, supplier management, MRO, legal, contracts, Global Trade, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), and aircraft operators.
- Participate in contract reviews to ensure program and project requirements are met including delivery milestones, budget, industry standards (S1000D, ATA iSpec2200, Spec2000, ATA100, and military specifications), and customer requirements.
- Create publication project plans in support of program proposals and cost estimates and use plans to manage project details including cost account management, identification of risks and opportunities.
- Provide technical guidance through review and analysis of engineering documentation and its impact to the technical publication.
- Drive delivery performance and quality from internal resources, and suppliers.
- Provide regular status updates on deliverables to internal and external customers.
- Be accountable for timely, accurate, and thorough project communication.
- Develop and implement creative work processes and innovative work methods to achieve cost and schedule requirements.
- Maintain and analyze meaningful performance metrics.
- Represent the team for customer and internal audits/reviews as required.
- Has prime responsibility for schedule, performance, & cost attainment.
- Lead and participate in continuous process improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with Collins Aerospace EHS and Ethical Policies and with Federal, State and local laws.
Working Environment:
- Position is located in the North Gate, Bangalore, India office
- Will lead a project-specific technical publications/training team of 2-20 people including technical writers, illustrators, and other support personnel based on workflow from PMO.
- Will interface with GTS PMO and Engineering.
Candidates Must Have:
- Proven team leadership capability.
- Strong attention to detail and personal organization.
- Strong literacy in publication/training specifications and standards
- Strong literacy in MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- High interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven professional attitude toward work assignments, toward customer relationships, and toward company/department Lean goals and vision.
- Direct experience with Collins Aerospace Oxygen systems products and services, especially those pertaining to aftermarket/customer service
Desirable Skills:
- Working knowledge of SAP project/network planning and tracking tools; network/activity development and maintenance; and SAP labor/cost reporting.
- Experience with principles and application of continuous improvement; Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) apprentice or equivalent Six Sigma experience
- An understanding of aerospace industry standards, especially ASD S1000D, ATA iSpec2200, Spec2000, ATA100, and military specifications
- Previous commercial and/or military technical publication development experience, within the aerospace industry
- Enterprise Project Management (EPM) SAP experience.
- PMP certification or Agile certification
Basic Qualification:
- Education: BE / B Tech / ME / M Tech
- 7 to 10 years of overall experience with at least 1 year in Collins Aerospace
