Senior Lead Architect: Core Platform Architecture

As a Senior Lead Architect at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking-Core Platform Engineering, you are the driving force to develop high-quality architecture solutions/patterns for various core platform areas, ranging from API gateway, service mesh, to common frameworks and Infra as a code, etc. You drive significant business impact and help shape the target state architecture through your capabilities in multiple architecture domains.

Job Responsibilities

• Represents a product family of technical governance bodies
• Provides feedback and proposes improvements to architecture governance practices
• Guides evaluation of current technology and leads evaluation of new technologies using existing standards and frameworks
• Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Drives decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
• Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
• Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• API GW and service mesh technologies like Envoy, Apigee, istio, Kubernetes GW API. Common knowledge on Rest, gRPC and GraphQL.
• Working with engineering partners and architects across CCB to advocate platform offering, seek feedback and incorporate into future vision and roadmap
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s), applications, and architecture
• Advanced knowledge of software architecture, applications, and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
• Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
• Practical cloud native experience
• Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to select or recommend the best solutions for the future state architecture
• Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

• Strong presentation and communication skills
• Prior experience on API Gateway, Service Mesh, API Management Platform and Platform as a Service in general
• Prior experiences building common frameworks and shared libraries, a plus
