Senior Engineer - Trade Compliance (Pune)


Job description:
To be one of the key members in the team and a point contact for projects with customers. Your mission will be to support the Distribution centers/Plants/Sales centers with high-quality services in Customs classification as well as Export 


Within the engineering team, you will contribute to executing - Requests received for HS code classification & screening of DU codes as per the guidelines of WTO. You work in a team of designers, project engineers and logistics engineers. Your responsibilities will include the following aspects.


Roles and Responsibilities:
-    Analyse the technical details like; working principle, functional parameters, materials, etc of parts/products of parts & provide them correct HS code as per European, Indian, USA & Chinese customs & WTO guidelines.
-    Understand the logic behind The General Rules for the Interpretation (GRI) of the Harmonized System, also known as the General Interpretative Rules (GIR).
-    Screening of parts for dual-use regulations
-    Daily basis reporting to service centers mainly in Europe, USA & India as well as other sales centers & plants globally.
-    Keep updated with the latest/ upcoming developments in the global trade compliance field & related legislations.
-    Ensure proper resource planning to deliver effective & efficient resource utilization.
-    Develop, improve, and deliver training to support the technical growth of the team. Developing E-learning courses (basic knowledge) and classroom sessions for advanced knowledge  
-    Present Updates/ latest technology/ knowledge gained and applied in the project as a part of competence development.  
-    Drive change by leveraging new technology & innovations to improve overall effectiveness. 
-    Demonstrate excellent relationship skills with the ability to collaborate, engage & manage customers with active involvement of related business teams. 
-    Foster a sense of urgency to implement a customer-focused organizational culture and to deliver world-class customer service levels.
-    Communicate with the global customer daily & resolve the technical queries/issues raised by customs authorities.
-    Mentor fellow colleagues


Experience / Knowledge Requirements
-    Basics of mechanical & electrical engineering should be clear
-    Able to read & understand engineering drawings, structure of bill of material & supplier’s catalogs.
-    Proficiency in verbal & written communication in English;
-    Good working knowledge of MS Office, and MS Outlook; MS Excel proficiency is an advantage; 
-    Strong attention to detail; 
-    Decision-making aptitudes based on given guidelines and in ambiguous contexts;
-    Must be comfortable working with large data sets;
-    Very good knowledge and experience in internet navigation and research finding specific information about parts/products in a timely manner.
-    Knowledge of BPCS / ERP / SAP is a plus.


Educational requirements:-


Highly preferred B.E in Mechanical, Secondary options: Industrial Eng, Manufacturing, Automobile Education background. 2-6 years of experience; in relevant field.
