About the role

This role is for a world leading Pharmaceutical company which operates in over 100 countries and is head quartered in the United Kingdom. The candidate is expected to work as an Associate Engineer for a large infrastructure support and maintenance function, spanning several continents.


The candidate should possess broad functional knowledge in their domain and technical knowledge in relevant operations. The candidate should have proven expertise in working within a team for Middleware infrastructure operational support and remediation activities. The Engineer will be responsible for the solve/break fix incidents/changes primarily on Middleware.


Typical Accountabilities
  • Responsible for the 24/7 support of Middleware services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security, and performance required by the business systems.


  • Initial triaging, and remediation if possible, of all P1, P2, P3, and P4 incidents.


  • Responsible for escalating incidents.


  • Responsible for updating Knowledgebase articles.


  • Responsible for incident queue management.


  • Responsible for mentoring the team members.


  • Responsible for working on Incidents, Changes, Service & Problem Requests.


  • Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system.


  • To proactively supervise the Middleware systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.


  • Responsible for crafting and updating Known Error documentation.


  • Woking on ITIL Process.


Education, Qualifications, and Experience

Essential


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 8 - 10 years Operational experience in Middleware administration.


  • Experience in managing Incidents, Problems, changes, and capacity management aspects.


  • Demonstrated ability handling Incidents, Changes & Service Requests.


  • Flexibility to work in shifts on rotational basis covering Americas, EMEA and ASIAPAC regions 24*7


  • An ability to work effectively in a matrix organization is crucial


  • A self-starter with high levels of drive, energy, resilience and a desire for professional excellence


  • ITIL Foundation certified.


Desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree


  • Multi years of work experience in Technical teams working in Shifts.


  • Middleware administration recommendation skills


  • Oracle WebLogic or Cloud certification an added advantage.


Skills and Capabilities

Essential


  • Expert Operational experience with Middleware technology (WebLogic, Tomcat, Jboss, IIS).


  • Good Knowledge on operating systems (Win/Unix)


  • Experience with using Knowledge articles and documented SOPs to resolve tickets.


  • Experience working in ITIL model.


  • Good knowledge on High availability services like Cluster, HA cluster & OVM.


  • Good Oracle WebLogic, tomcat, IIS and jboss administration


  • Good in Middleware Build/Migration activities.


  • Good in restore/recovery techniques.


  • Working knowledge on Performance issues related to middleware services.


  • Working Knowledge on cloud solutions and concepts (AWS, AZURE)


  • Experience working in ITIL model.


  • Working on Lean & Agile Methodologies


  • Hands-on knowledge on migration from On-Premises to Cloud platform.


  • Knowledge on Automation/Scripting


  • Knowledge on open-source middleware products (Tomcat and Jboss).


Desirable
  • Working knowledge on WebLogic, Tomcat, Jboss, IIS and Cloud


  • Expertise level of experience in Middleware administration to managing Incidents, Problems, changes, and capacity management aspects


  • Experience and ability to work in shifts on rotational basis covering 24*7 support


  • Ability to collaborate across the different technology towers.


  • Knowledge on Oracle Enterprise Manger (OEM) and Nagios configuration.


  • Good Communication skills in interacting with the application teams & vendors.
