Job Summary:
Electrical Engineer with experience on basic and detailed design and project co-ordination of Electrical works on Infrastructure, Energy and M&M projects. Has a good knowledge of Electrical System and Physical design, the principles, and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating with other technical disciplines. Candidate should have exposure to Indian, US, Euro and other foreign codes/standards and local practices.
Major Responsibilities:
- Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work within a discipline on a project or assignment in a global business unit.
- Supervises the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, specialists, designers and drafters.
- Conducts annual performance reviews for direct reports in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions.
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
- Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates.
- Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work.
- Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations, including field and design documents relating to the discipline.
- Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups.
- Ensures that engineers supervised receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
- Promotes the creation of a work environment, assisted by leadership, which fosters directness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
- Performs electrical discipline work which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, electrical layout plans including lighting and grounding systems.
- Participates in one or more of the following:
- Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL).
- Equipment design and development.
- System design, including concept sketches and layouts.
- Preparation of specifications and design calculations.
- Reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data by other engineers or by suppliers.
- Preparation or review of engineering studies and reports.
- Preparation or review of material quantity estimates.
- Uses engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools.
- Reviews design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity and prepares comments & recommendations.
- Assists in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders.
- Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon directness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A recognized bachelor’s/master’s degree in electrical engineering, from an accredited college or university with an overall experience of minimum 14 years.
- Site experience will be an added advantage.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive Knowledge of electrical system studies using ETAP/EasyPower software and conversant with short circuit, load flow, motor starting & voltage drop calculations, main single line diagram, protection & metering diagrams, relay setting & protection coordination of the system, Emergency Diesel Generator Sizing, Underground cable sizing, Grounding.
- Should possess good knowledge of international codes & standards.
- Should have worked on equipment sizing, specifications, MR preparation, technical bid evaluation and vendor print reviews of various electrical equipment like Switchyard, Generator Step-Up Transformer, Busduct, MV & LV switchgear, MCCs, power & distribution transformers, DC systems / UPS, Cables, generator circuit breaker, bus duct, lighting fixtures.
- Review of 3D Model in S3D and Autodesk Revit using SPR or Navisworks and be a stakeholder in 30%, 50% and 90% Model Reviews with Client, Vendor and Sub Contractors
- Vendor Prints Review of Mechanical packages.
- Preparation of three Line Diagrams & Logic Diagrams, Overall Single Line Diagrams, conversant with electrical layouts like raceways, lighting, grounding & lightning protection, Switchyard layouts etc.
- Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
- Knowledge of inter discipline coordination.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
- Skill in oral and written communication, demonstrated skill in leadership.
- Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer aided engineering (CAE)/computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems.
- Experience of preparing technical specifications, datasheets, material requisitions and vendor print reviews for various electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of preparation of load list, MCC schedule etc.
- Experience in various electrical layouts like grounding, raceways and lighting etc.
- Review of 3D Model using SPR or Navisworks and be a stakeholder in 30%, 50% and 90% Model
- Reviews with Client, Vendor and Subcontractors.
- Knowledge of project controls within discipline.
- Good knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the engineering discipline.
- Basic skill in oral and written communication
