Role description:
This position supports the existing Ecological team of NA within the  Environmental Planning (EP) group in NA by providing desk based environmental reports to our client. 

Role accountabilities:
The roles and responsibilities of the environmental consultant will vary but will include the following:

• Carrying out ecological desk studies which comprise of ordering data from the Local Records Centre, identifying the designated sites within the search area and analyzing the important species present on site/within the search area. These studies dictate where the field surveyors need to target detailed inspections and it informs the overall ecological assessment.
• Undertake high level environmental constraints studies.
• Collating data for preliminary ecological appraisal.
• Identification of habitat types or species distributions coinciding with nationally (NA) recognised standards.
• Calculating habitat losses and gains through spatial data sets
• Preparing supporting information for investigations of Protected Species 
• Conversion of large data sets into .xls./.csv enabled data.
• Support in Data analysis and report preparation within the NA Ecology/EP team
   

Qualifications & Experience:
Having an appropriate academic qualification in Zoology, Ecology, Environmental or related discipline
Key Competencies

• Basic knowledge of Environmental Management standards, National/Global biodiversity conventions.
• •Experience of Ecological Consultancy or working within the field of biodiversity conservation
• Good understanding of taxonomic classification of fauna and basic ornithology knowledge.
• Understanding of NA bat species would be an asset or transferable knowledge from Indian species. 
• Ecological surveying/ plant and habitat surveys and assessments.
