Introduction to role:
Join our Commercial IT Data Analytics & AI (DAAI) team as a Senior Consultant - Data Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining a scalable data product. You will have the opportunity to work with Databricks, PySpark, and the AWS suite of applications.
Accountabilities:
As a Senior Consultant - Data Engineer, you will craft, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure using Databricks, PySpark, and AWS services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and business partners to understand requirements and translate them into technical stories. You will enforce best practices for data management, data quality, and data governance. You will also provide technical expertise to the team and 3rd party development engineers to ensure consistency in alignment to AZ IT and Commercial IT standards and processes.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proven experience of at least 12 years as a data engineer
- Broad understanding of cloud architecture (preferably in AWS)
- Strong experience in Databricks, Pyspark and the AWS suite of applications (like S3, Redshift, Lambda, Glue, EMR)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python
- Experienced in Agile Development techniques and Methodologies
- Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL processes and data warehousing concepts
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark
- Certification in AWS or Databricks
- Machine Language or GenAI experience
- Prior significant experience working in Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry IT environment
- Experience of working within a quality and compliance environment
