We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join our dynamic team and support Expense Management and Corporate Card organization. Our mission is to provide complete and accurate data for financial teams and various businesses within Amazon for reporting and analytics relative to Expense reimbursements and Corporate Cards. As such, Senior Business Analyst designs, builds, maintains, and enhances scalable systems that provide accurate data as well as actionable insights to the business.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for working with terabytes of data to develop automated and self-service scalable solutions for Finance and Business Partners. You will be responsible for building a robust set of operational, financial and business metrics, requirements documentation and will utilize metrics to determine improvement opportunities.
From Day 1, you will be challenged with a variety of tasks, ranging from creating datasets, reports, dashboards to metadata modeling, and pipeline monitoring. You will interact with internal program, finance, operations, technical teams and external stakeholders to gather requirements, structure scalable and perform data solutions, to gain a deep understanding of key datasets. You will design, implement and drive adoption of new analytic technologies and solutions, and promote industry standard best practices. You will be responsible to tune query performance against large and complex data sets. You will help translate analytic insights into concrete, actionable recommendations for business or product improvement. You will engage in a diverse range of activities, including monthly reporting, data deep dives, program management, ad hoc assessments, and strategic planning.
Key job responsibilities
* Develop insights that will help business and operation teams to take strategic decisions that will impact top line or bottom line for the company
* Work with cross-functional teams to define performance goals and establish metrics for measuring success
* Conduct regular inspections of business performance, analyzing key metrics and identifying opportunities for optimization
* Deep dives on business inputs to perform variance analysis, identify product gaps and opportunities
* Draw inferences and conclusions, create dashboards and visualizations of processed data
* Have business and communication skills to be able to work with product owners to understand key business questions to build reports that enable product/programs owners to answer those questions quickly and accurately
* Deliver insightful recommendations to business partners, encompassing cost-saving measures and process enhancements
* Evaluate new projects and assess existing initiatives to provide well-informed go/no-go recommendations
* Design and develop highly available dashboards and metrics in Quicksight
* Be very comfortable juggling competing priorities and handling ambiguity
A day in the life
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will help develop data solutions to drive deep dives, provide insights into the health and state of the Expense and Card Management team and measure business impact. You will transform data into actionable business information, and will make it readily accessible to stakeholders worldwide. You will own the design, creation, and management of extremely large datasets. You will be responsible to tune query performance against large and complex data sets. - 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 4+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience
- 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
- 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
- 4+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
- Six Sigma Black Belt
- Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence
- 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of Tableau
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
