Job Description Summary
Sr Associate Engineer – Electrical Systems Simulation/Analysis Engineer – Advanced Power Products
To direct and participate in the concept and design of complex electrical engineering control and simulation projects for Advanced Power Products application and in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, serviceability at the most affordable cost. Simulation Engineer with experience modelling, simulation and validation of Electrical systems such as Invertors, Converters, Transformers etc. The role will be responsible for Simulation for Advanced Power Products systems and components working with global team. A strong understanding of Power systems operation and functionality is required.

Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Determining detailed functional requirements for Advanced Power Products and Components and implement the same in a simulation environment to evaluate performance characteristics
• Carrying out detailed model creation and validation for existing and in-development power products like inverters, converters, and controllers, using test data and component details
• Developing control strategies for optimum power dispatch among various power sources like PV, Wind Turbines, Diesel Gensets, Battery Energy Storage Systems, etc
• Simulating various test cases for static and dynamic analysis of power systems, like load, flow, contingency scenarios, transformer energization, motor starting, protection circuits, etc
• Analysis of data from various sources (simulation, test, and field data) for model validation and gleaning insights into the system behaviour.
• Work closely with global team on new product development (NPI, NTI)
• Communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers, and other business units
• Knowledge of the NPI process.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Relevant work experience required: Bachelors - 2-to-6-year experience, Masters 0 to 4 years in Controls and Simulation of Electrical systems and Components preferably in technology like fuel cell power sources, energy storage systems, hydrogen fuel cells, hybrids, electric vehicles (EV), etc and functional validation testing
• Experience in electrical systems modelling/simulation and controls development.
• Working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink for controls development and validation
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
• Advanced knowledge of Matlab / Simulink with a focus on controls development and code-generation for embedded platforms
• Working knowledge PSCAD, Digsilent PowerFactory, PSS®E and other similar electrical systems simulation software
• Working knowledge of Power Electronics design and simulation, focussing on different converter topologies, thermal simulations, etc
• Advanced knowledge of the model-based software development, MIL/SIL/HIL based validation, and embedded software development
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
• Strong project management skills – Developing, maintaining, and executing to a project management plan. Ability to develop & leverage a global network of engineering resources.
• Willingness to travel
domestic/international up to 10% when job role requires
