Job Description
Ares is looking for a Senior Associate to join the Human Resources team. The role will facilitate day to day transactions across the carried interest and equity platforms. This will include the processing of carried interest distributions, wire instruction and trust maintenance, as well as equity administration including system maintenance and reporting. The role will partner closely with colleagues within HR as well as with members of the Finance, Investment Operations and Tax teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional client service, promptly addressing all related queries and concerns, while streamlining and improving our Carried Interest and Equity processes to ensure best practices in a fast-paced rapidly growing environment.

Reports to: Vice President, Compensation Administration
Primary functions and essential responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop comprehensive understanding of the broader business and the critical components of success to help create strategic enhancements alongside the HR and financial planning teams
Work collaboratively with other HR professionals and the broader finance team to review analytical findings and develop thoughtful, dynamic strategies and solutions
Carried Interest Administration:
Process, track and report on carried interest allocations, vesting schedules, distributions, and future valuations/forecast
Maintain allocations including forfeitures and reallocations
Coordinate and complete routine audits with Corporate Accounting
Participate in new system implementation
Equity Administration:
Assist with award activity across three separate plans including new awards, vesting events, forfeitures and accelerations
Process quarterly dividend equivalent calculations and payments
Generate communications related to new grants, vesting events, quarterly dividends and retirement eligibility
Complete routine audits with Payroll
Reconcile and perform audits related to equity transactions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality control of data in the equity system
Develop reports on current practices and identify any potential exposure to the firm
Complete other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, economics, finance or accounting or related field
Certified Compensation Professional Certification preferred
Experience Required:
Minimum of 4 years of analytical or compensation experience, preferably within financial services industry; experience in asset management a plus
Experience with Workday and/or Compensation platform(s) preferred
General Requirements:
Experience with equity administration and/or carried interest
Experience with system administration
Strong technical skills with high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Access or other databases a plus
An analytical mind and a passion/interest in bringing new ideas to increase efficiency of existing processes
Ability to manage the tactical aspects of the Compensation role while being mindful of the strategic direction of the firm
Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and competing demands
Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines; result oriented
Strong communication skills and team orientation; capability of interacting with key stakeholders to direct prioritization of Compensation-related activities
