The Analyst, GMNS - Operational Excellence - Monitoring & Testing, will be responsible for developing and improving testing and monitoring strategies for the GMNS business, with a strong focus on driving automated risk monitoring. The role will support operational risk identification and develop governance oversight to drive valuable insights and effective risk mitigation strategies. This includes Assessment, Implementation and Governance of Key Risk Indicator Program leveraging Enterprise capability of Smart Monitoring and ensuring GMNS is effectively managing those risks in accordance with the company’s risk appetite, framework and policy. A core objective is the successful implementation of the Monitoring & Testing Program in GMNS by collaborating with GMNS Business Leaders, Compliance, General Counsel, Global Risk and Compliance and other key partners and stakeholders to sustain and enhance a culture of winning the right way. The position requires the ability to support global initiatives and participate in special projects across multiple regions and time zones.
Responsibilities and key focus areas include:
- Partner closely with the GMNS business, Global Risk and Compliance Smart Monitoring CoE and Capability team to implement Automated Key Risk Indicator with key focus on establishing Governance Oversight for KRI Program
- Partner with Operational Risk functions, Compliance and Business to establish robust Governance Oversight for KRI Program
- Create and manage KRI Performance Dashboard focusing on key risk metrics ( SLA on alert closure, volume of alerts, efficacy of KRIs, heart-beat dashboard, tech issues related to alert triggers , KRI coverage across GMNS business process etc)
- Perform advanced data analytics to identify trends, composition, leading indicators, outlook in operational risk and monitor efficacy of KRIs
- Leverage unstructured data sources to identify potential process breakdowns and opportunities area
- Monitor KRIs and trends to identify areas of potential emerging risks.
- Program & Demand Management to create effective project prioritization framework, evaluation of opportunities, creation of OKRs, managing project timeliness, risk status and mitigation plans
- Identify risk within existing business process and implement prevention strategies to mitigate operational risk
- Drive risk assessments on high priority/high risk processes to identify control enhancement opportunities.
- Uplift root cause analysis framework and create enhanced analytics and insights.
- Continually improve operational risk processes to support sustainable business growth and inform risk-based decision making.
- Provide support for targeted projects advised at improving the control environment
Qualifications:
- 3-4+ year of experience with data-driven analytics/governance and risk management,
- Preferred experience in financial services, risk management, internal control
- Preferred Postgraduate degree in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/Engineering/Management
- Knowledge of risk management and risk governance framework
- Experience compiling complex information and developing thoughtful material for presentation/updates.
- Understanding of the merchant business, related regulatory landscape, and emerging trends/models is preferred
- Knowledge of operational risk concepts and programs, balanced with the ability to drive assessment of risks against effective controls and tests.
- Strong Project Management skill set with focus on data driven analytics
- Strong proven understanding of MS-Excel and Tableau. Ability to handle sophisticated data incl. unstructured data using programming languages such as SAS, SQL, Python or another similar programming language
- Should be a person with strong analytical thinking and skills who can undertake below steps independently:
- Identify problems/opportunities at hand
- Gather information on process flows, data, systems, and related losses/events
- Develop hypothesis to opportunities/problems identified
- Use data analytics to prove your hypothesis, identify root cause (if applicable) and size the opportunities/problems (if applicable)
- Draw conclusion based on analysis conducted
- Be able to solve business problems in complex and unstructured environment
- Team player with strong communication skills, and ability to develop relationships with colleagues.
- Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently and handle multiple workstreams and ad-hoc tasks simultaneously.
- Proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change.
- Technical Skills and Platform Knowledge:
- Expertise in MS- Excel, Tableau , HIVE, SQL and / or SAS
- Application of statistical techniques preferred
- Knowledge of Hadoop, Big Data, Python, Cornerstone preferred
- Preferred experience with COSMOS/Tableau/Archer/SharePoint
