SAP Technical Architect
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the SAP platform to align with Amgen’s technology strategy and business goals, improving SAP investment and driving significant business value.
While your primary focus will be on ensuring resilience, compliance, and security for our regulated and critically important global SAP platform, you will also drive the SAP platform strategy, create detailed roadmaps, and assist in implementing the high-visibility ERP digital transformation project, including the S/4HANA implementation.
A key aspect of this role will be liaising with the enterprise architecture team to advocate for and collaborate on developing the SAP platform vision, ensuring it integrates seamlessly with the broader enterprise architecture ensuring it meets the highest standards of performance, security, and innovation.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Act as the primary point of contact for SAP platform-related matters, demonstrating extensive architecture engagement experience to collaborate with the enterprise architecture team, senior leadership, and partners to understand needs and improve SAP investment, driving significant business value.
Analyze and understand Amgen’s business strategies to apply SAP Reference Architecture, interpret requirements, map needs to SAP solutions, and develop artifacts using SAP Enterprise Architecture tools, ensuring integrated and optimized SAP systems.
Develop and sustain the enterprise architecture vision and roadmap for the SAP platform, capturing business needs, defining technical architecture roadmaps, and aligning SAP Business Applications, Data, and Technical Architecture.
Collaborate with enterprise teams, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, operations, and SAP Basis, to recommend business capability mapping, model end-to-end processes, apply SAP best practices, and ensure cohesive integration and compliance across all SAP systems.
Ensure the operational reliability, compliance, and performance of the SAP platform by implementing effective strategies for monitoring, maintenance, and support, guaranteeing business continuity.
Take ownership of reviewing the design, configuration, and optimization of SAP functionality, implementing best practices across development, integration, and security domains to ensure alignment with the approved SAP design.
Develop and manage a cost optimization framework to ensure efficient resource allocation, implement cost control measures, identify and mitigate financial risks, and optimize SAP platform usage, including infrastructure and licenses.
Establish governance standards for SAP systems to ensure compliance with GxP, SOX, and data protection laws, while implementing a strategy to maintain data accuracy, integrity, and security through robust measures.
Stay informed about the latest SAP trends, tools, and best practices to drive innovation, leading initiatives to improve processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs across SAP including BTP and Cloud.
Automate the provisioning, configuration, and scaling of SAP environments using Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes to ensure efficient infrastructure management.
Ensure the stability, performance, and security of SAP applications running on AWS by implementing robust monitoring, automation, and recovery strategies.
Apply DevOps methodologies within the SAP environment, using tools like Jira, Mira, and Lucid for planning, roadmapping, and managing deliverables to enhance collaboration, improve efficiency, and ensure timely project execution.

Basic Qualifications and Experience
Doctorate degree OR
Master’s degree in computer science or STEM majors and 4 to 6 years of IT or SAP related field experience OR
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or STEM majors and 6 to 8 years of IT or SAP related field experience OR
Diploma in computer science or STEM majors and 10 to 12 years of IT or SAP related field experience
Demonstrable experience in developing strategies and implementing enterprise-level architecture encompassing SAP systems, incorporating automation and integrating AI and AWS technologies for optimized performance.
Proficiency in SAP architecture, landscape design, development and integration best practices, and security controls is essential, along with a demonstrable ability to strategize and manage enterprise-level applications and integration with Amgen's enterprise data lake.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate with enterprise senior leadership, translating architecture concepts for business leaders and managers with varying levels of technological expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Basis, development, security and integration which will help in implementing best-in-class SAP solutions aligned with Amgen’s technology strategy.
Understanding of DevOps methodologies within SAP, along with expertise in SAP BTP.
Familiarity with AI/ML, GenAI, and SAP Business AI to demonstrate advanced technologies in optimizing SAP solutions and driving innovation.
