Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a Sales Engineer to join our team and contribute to our dynamic and fast-paced sales environment. As a Sales Engineer, you will play a crucial role in driving sales, promoting our solutions, and providing exceptional service to our valued customers. Your responsibilities will revolve around understanding customers' technical requirements, providing product demonstrations, collaborate closely with the sales and product development teams to offer technical expertise and support throughout the entire sales cycle. This role demands a balance of strong technical knowledge into power system automation or protection field, excellent communication skills, and a passion for building strong customer relationships. The ideal candidate must be flexible to travel locally & internationally. As a Sales Engineer, a typical day might include the following:


  • Manage and develop relationships with SEL customers and channel partners.


  • Understand the true requirements and objectives of customers.  Determine, communicate and deliver the optimal SEL solution that best meets their needs.


  • Building and maintain knowledge of all SEL products and teaching customers SEL technology and innovation.


  • Develop, maintain and deliver upon quarterly orders forecasts and sales goals.


  • Collect, analyze and report industry, competitor and customer trends to the greater SEL organization.


  • Work collaboratively to understand and drive the resolution of customer feedbacks and product issues.


  • Liaise between customers, contracts & risk, and accounts receivable to facilitate commercial relationships.


  • Utilize business tools to maintain customer relationship information, opportunity tracking and sales activities.


  • Other duties as assigned.


This job might be for you if possess the following:   


  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience in technical sales


  • 3 or more years of experience in an electrical engineering or technical sales environment related to industrial sectors


  • Demonstrated success working in a customer-facing role


  • Ability to travel min 80% locally & internationally


  • Effective and engaging communication skills


  • Excellent negotiation skills to manage client expectations, align on terms and secure contracts that meet both customer and SEL objectives


  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities


  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
