Job Description:
An experienced SAP ABAP Lead to oversee the implementation and hypercare of SAP S/4HANA on RISE for our EPC projects. The SAP ABAP Lead will be responsible for managing custom development activities, ensuring they meet the complex needs of our engineering, procurement, and construction operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Management: Lead the custom development and technical implementation of SAP S/4HANA on RISE. Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables for ABAP development tasks. Coordinate with functional leads and other technical teams to ensure seamless integration and data flow.
Requirements Gathering and Analysis: Conduct workshops and meetings to gather detailed technical requirements specific to the EPC industry. Analyze and map these requirements to ABAP development tasks, identifying gaps and proposing solutions.
System Design and Development: Design and develop custom SAP solutions using ABAP, ensuring alignment with business requirements. Develop and maintain custom reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows (RICEF/W objects). Ensure adherence to SAP best practices and coding standards.
Integration and Data Migration: Ensure robust integration between custom ABAP developments and standard SAP modules (e.g., MM, SD, FICO, PS).
Develop and execute data migration strategies, ensuring accurate and complete transfer of legacy data.
Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for custom developments, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT). Identify and resolve defects and issues, ensuring custom solutions meet quality and performance standards.
Training and Support: Develop and deliver technical training programs for end-users and internal IT staff, focusing on custom developments and best practices. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance during the hypercare phase and beyond.
Hypercare and Continuous Improvement: Provide immediate post-implementation support during the hypercare phase, addressing any issues or defects promptly. Gather feedback from end-users and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with other teams to design and implement system enhancements and optimizations.
Project Monitoring and Reporting: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for custom development performance and system utilization.
Generate and distribute regular status reports, highlighting progress, risks, and issues.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. SAP certification in ABAP is highly desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in SAP ABAP development, preferably within the EPC industry. Proven experience with SAP S/4HANA and RISE with SAP implementations. Strong understanding of EPC project lifecycles and associated technical requirements. Hands-on expertise in areas of ABAP (i.e. Reports: Classical, Interactive and ALV (preferably ALV using OO Methodology); Interfaces: BAPI, BDC, Flat file Interfaces (handling files on both Application Server and Presentation Server) EDI-IDoc; ABAP Webdynpro is mandatory; ABAP workflow is mandatory; Enhancements: BADI, User Exits and Customer Exits. Knowledge of Enhancement Spots would be added advantage; Proficiency in areas like Data Dictionary and Performance Tuning; Experience in ECC 6.0, ABAP on HANA; Expertise in OO ABAP)
Skills: Expertise in ABAP development, including Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows (RICEF/W objects). Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex technical projects.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field. Experience with SAP Activate methodology. Familiarity with other SAP modules (e.g., MM, SD, FICO, PS) and their integration with custom developments. Knowledge of EPC industry-specific best practices and regulatory requirements.
Work Environment: This position may require occasional travel. The role may involve working outside of standard business hours to meet project deadlines.
