Title: Robotics Engineer

Position Summary:

The Robotics Engineer is a key role at Siemens Energy, you will report to the leadership team and will be responsible for the development and implementation of all robotics solutions on our factory floor. In addition, the person will be responsible in managing (with support from the leadership team) all robotics projects globally.

The candidate shall have hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in electrical equipment, and will be responsible for studying factory operations, identifying opportunities for robotic integration, and leading the implementation of cutting-edge automation solutions. You will lead project to support regional manufacturing plants team in pursuit of establishing manufacturing processes with use of robotic solutions, resulting in improved delivery timeline, better customer response and supporting customer in meeting their growing demand for electrical products.

Your new role – challenging and future-oriented:

  • Lead and execute robotics projects focused on material logistics, assembly operations, testing, and quality control within switchgear and transformer manufacturing.
  • Design, evaluate, and recommend robotic-based automation solutions tailored to the specific needs of switchgear and transformer production. This includes identifying processes that could benefit from automation, such as assembly, testing, or material handling.
  • Configure and optimize robotic systems for applications such as material handling grippers, tool changers, assembly fixtures, testing devices, and inspection tools. Select suitable robot models based on payload requirements, process needs, and cycle time objectives.
  • Perform hands-on integration of robotic systems, end-of-arm tools (EOATs), and other machines to enhance automation and streamline processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to assess requirements and design automation tools tailored to specific manufacturing processes.
  • Lead the integration of robotic solutions into the manufacturing process, working closely with the engineering, production, and IT teams to ensure seamless deployment.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of robotic systems, ensuring they meet key performance indicators (KPIs) such as quality, speed, and cost-efficiency.
  • Provide training and technical support to factory personnel on robotic systems and automation tools, ensuring smooth adoption and operation.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in robotic technology, automation systems, and manufacturing trends to propose and implement cutting-edge solutions.
  • Ensure all robotic systems comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols, and promote a safe working environment.
  • Engage in capital planning, vendor coordination, and project management, facilitating the deployment of automated solutions across multiple facilities.
  • Manage and oversee project activities, including scope, risks, issues, and schedules. Address challenges promptly, ensuring resolution and providing regular updates to stakeholders through meetings, status reports, and milestone reviews.

We don’t need superheroes, just super minds:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Robotics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of hands-on experience in switchgear and transformer manufacturing, with at least 10 years in robotics or automation integration within a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic Knowledge on programming skills such as XML, C#, J Script, VBA, Python etc.
  • Experience with industrial and collaborative robots such as FANUC or equivalent, proven track record of deploying and optimizing robotic systems in industrial settings.
  • Experience with automation controls systems design & assembly, such as PLC/HMI interfaces
  • Skilled in robotic simulation using tools such as Visual Components, Roboguide, RoboDK, or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes for switchgears and transformers, including assembly, testing, and quality control.
  • Proven expertise in evaluating, implementing, and optimizing robotic automation solutions, preferably within electrical manufacturing industries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design customized automation solutions for complex manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and departments.
  • Certifications in industrial robotics programming (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, or similar) are a plus.
  • Candidate should be comfortable to travel (up-to 10% or more) in different countries to access the manufacturing factories and should be able to work in multi-cultural set-up.

Desired skills

  • Proficient in reading mechanical drawings and layouts, with some mechanical design capabilities.
  • Familiarity with robot simulation studies and experience using robot simulation software is an added advantage.
