The Role
The Release Train Engineer plays a meaningful role in delivering high-quality modern solutions as part of the Agile Release Train (ART). This role will be accountable for acting as a servant leader and Agile coach to the teams on the ART and as a change agent, evangelizing the tenets of Agile and Scrum across Functions and Finance Risk Technology.
Responsibilities
Act as a Change Agent with a passion for supporting Agile teams and Portfolios to transform their behaviors toward an agile mindset and environment.
Assist with launching new Agile Release Trains (ARTs).
Prepare for and facilitate Planning Increment (PI) Planning then Lead the successful execution of each PI to achieve its objectives.
Facilitate program level agile ceremonies to include dependency mapping, release planning and scope alignment across Product teams.
Coordinate major feature releases and ongoing value delivery to customers
Ensure risk and compliance goals are met through enablement of high code quality, robust backlogs, and reduction of technical debt
Enable the removal of or escalate impediments to the Scrum Teams or ART progress
Maintain metrics and use them to ensure successful execution and identify areas for improvement.
Leverage metrics and agility health assessments to drive outcomes and continuous improvement to help teams and the ART mature.
Enable empirical product planning for a complex environment
Facilitate communication and partnership inside and outside the ART to include stakeholder engagement
Coach teams on the ART and others they interact with to adopt an agile mindset with focus on agile values and principles leading with transparency, inspection, and adaptation resulting in delivery of high value increments which meet the Definition of Done.
Qualifications
9+ years working in an Agile environment with deep understanding of Scrum, Kanban, Scaling Agile and Lean Agile Frameworks.
5+ years working in an Agile environment as Agile Coach, RTE, Scrum Master or Product Ownerof distributed Agile teams, Tech domain preferred.
Mindset consistent with Scrum core values: openness, courage, respect, focus and commitment
Demonstrated understanding of lean agile values and principles including the 3-5-3 structure of scrum
Experience as a SAFeRelease Train Engineer (RTE), Scrum @ Scale Scrum of Scrums Master (SoSM), or similar roles from other scaling frameworks.
Expert in facilitation, problem solving and influencing outcomes
Expert knowledge of best practices in value driven development (requirements management, prototyping, hypothesis driven development, usability testing).
Strong knowledge of technical engineering best practices including test driven development, continuous integration, DevOps.
Demonstrated knowledge of common practices to manage risk from risk identification through mitigation and monitoring
Expert knowledge of agile tool suites including Atlassian, Agility Health, MS Teams or similar agile management tooling
SAFe RTE, Scrum Master and Agile Certifications
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with large-scale enterprise agile transformations with knowledge of multiple agile and scaling frameworks
