About the position:
Chevron strives to continue developing and commercializing new technologies in both the conventional oil refining business and new energy transition fields. Chevron, through the joint venture Chevron Lummus Global (CLG), also designs and licenses hydroprocessing technologies and provides technical and operational support to Chevron refineries and third-party clients. This position will work closely with the innovation function of the Chevron Technical Center. The Reactor Designer works with Reactor Engineers to produce design drawing packages for reactors, reactor internals, and high-pressure separator vessels.
Key responsibilities:
Utilize standardized tools to perform structural calculations to design and evaluate reactor internal components
Use Autodesk Inventor® parametric 3D CAD software to model components and produce reactor design packages
Innovate, troubleshoot, and improve on existing designs and procedures
Review fabricator technical drawings
Occasional travel to fabrication shops and/or client refineries
Inspect equipment and components at third-party fabrication shops
Confined Space Entry into pressure vessels in refinery settings to perform final inspections of installed equipment
Actively demonstrate Chevron Way behaviors and promote Incident and Injury Free culture (IIF)
Complete all mandatory Chevron training on time
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency with 3D modeling/CAD software
Proficiency with 2D CAD software
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel
5 years experience producing technical design drawings
Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor® is preferred
Proficiency with AutoCAD® is preferred
Knowledge of ASME pressure vessel design, welding, fabrication, and inspection is preferred
Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing facility, including confined space entry is preferred
Experience with Hydroprocessing reactors is preferred
Experience with equipment design for technology licensing is preferred
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
