Role Definition:
Performs advanced inspection and audits to track, analyze, and report on materials, processes, and products to ensure conformance to company's quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Must have hands on experience in Engine assembly, QMS (Quality Management System), ISO 9000.
Conducting measurement systems analysis; gathering, analysing, and communicating non-conformance data. - Identifying, analysing, and resolving non-conformance. Investigating problems on worked purchased finished, rough, and interplant material.
Coordinates various Quality training programs. - Analysing non-conformance data and maintaining quality system documentation.
Interacting with manufacturing team members to determine root cause of quality issues and ensure that corrective and preventive action is implemented.
Degree Requirement: Graduate at minimum – bachelor’s in engineering (Mechanical/Automobile) from a Tier 1 University
Job Purpose:
The position will have the primary purpose of supporting the Diesel and Gas engine product quality activities to support prime product (Machine/Genset/OEM/Dealers) customers and factory. Respond to customer with solutions which is guided by Cross Functional Team by conducting investigations, analyses for engine quality problems. Get feedback from external customers once the engine quality problem is resolved.
This person reports to a Quality Manager or a Quality Supervisor and works with supervisors, technicians, and other support groups. Impacts key quality goals including Continuous Improvement, Process Quality, Part Quality, Internal Quality Certification, ISO 9000 Certification, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
.
- The incumbent will have responsibilities for Quality Assurance in assigned areas, including product test procedures and specifications, performing audits, improvements of products reliability and customer satisfaction through support of the CPS (Caterpillar Production System), NPI (New Product Introduction) and CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) programs.
- Capture engine/product quality complaints from customers are recorded in relevant Caterpillar Systems and circulate with problem description to engine manufacturing factory team. These reports are submitted in a timely manner with corrective actions, and due diligence has been carried out as part of the investigation.
- This position is required to initiate a collaborative problem-solving process involving the relevant functional expertise (Production, Manufacturing engineering, Internal quality, Supplier quality, Logistics and supply chain) at engine manufacturing factory to investigate the problem through brainstorming session and the customer for containment activities, root cause analysis and corrective actions using the defined guidelines for execution and within timeline.
- It is the responsibility to ensure if failed parts or engines are required to assist with the root cause investigation they are returned within the required guidelines. Drive to do the investigation along by utilize resources like Material Analysis Lab, Engineering team and CMM etc.,
- Quality Engineer feeds back to the Customer the current status and actions that have been undertaken on each issue that is reported. This is achieved through regular scheduled meetings as agreed with the Customer.
- Employees to improve quality practices in their processes through quality manner such as daily coaching, tracking CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) projects & Scorecard, providing quality support if any poor results or negative trends occur, providing training courses of quality specifications to employees, conducting internal quality audits, facilitating management reviews, etc.
- This position is required to implement the Idea Generation Process and Corrective and Preventive action processes by clarifying and verifying all ideas with related persons and spot check, explain the validation reasons, and encourage all employees to make contributions to achieve zero defect in operations.
- This position is also required to actively support Lean Manufacturing/ SAP and ongoing support, to help area owners set up goals and integrate Lean Manufacturing Practices with Internal Quality Certification system through standardization and documentation.
- Impacts key quality goals including Continuous Improvement, Process Quality, Part Quality, Internal Quality Certification, ISO 9000 Certification, etc.
- Understands overall business objectives to effectively mitigate risks associated with quality.
Background/Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering/manufacturing with an excellent understanding of quality management practices or equivalent experience.
- Excellent knowledge in engine parts and functions of them with 8 to10 year experience. Prior working experience in a field machines/engines and troubleshooting knowledge.
- Requires a thorough knowledge of quality concepts and quality tools including process control, analysis, Caterpillar internal certification principals, and ISO9000 etc.
- Requires strong communication, cooperation, and influence skills to work with all levels of employees and customers, especially with leadership management employees.
- Need to travel and visit customer site within country and abroad on need basis.
- Advanced computer applications, good oral and written communications skills are a must.
