About IPSD-M Power Generation


Within the Industrial Power Systems Division, the Genset packaging Operations team manage packaging of generator sets across 8 global locations.   Genset packaging Operations includes Assembly operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Environmental Health + Safety. We deliver operations excellence across all functional areas, packaging 55,000 gensets annually, delivering superior safety, quality, velocity, and cost results to our business partners.


We now have an opportunity to recruit this key role within the Global Operations Manufacturing team, reporting to the Global Technical Services Manager .


Job Purpose


Performs advanced inspection and audits to track, analyse, and report on materials, processes, and products to ensure conformance to company’s quality standards.


What you will do:


  • Co-ordinate Root Cause Analysis for As Delivered Quality issues across global distribution network, co-ordinating between cross-functional teams (Aftermarket, Facility teams, Key suppliers).
  • Independently lead improvement projects across global facilities, co-ordinating global cross-functional team.
  • Conducting measurement systems analysis; gathering, analyzing, and communicating non-conformance data.
  • Analyzing non-conformance data and maintaining quality system documentation.
  • Participating in and offering technical support to internal and external audits; following up response of corrective action from audit.
  • Work in a team environment to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste and provide for continuous improvements in meeting all customer requirements.

Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences.


Level Extensive Experience:


  • Investigates a broad range of problems, determines causes, and finds resolutions.
  • Recommends candidates for root cause analysis in spite of chaotic organizational conditions.
  • Develops corrective action based on RCA results.
  • Uses RCA techniques such as Re-enactment, Comparative Re-enactment, Re-construction.
  • Guides others to recognize repeat situations even when they are distributed over time or happen to different people.
  • Works with a variety of RCA approaches such as safety-based, production-based, process-based, failure-based, and systems-based.

Required Criteria


  • A college degree in an appropriate engineering or technical discipline (e.g., Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering).
  • Knowledge of Quality management systems.
  • Experience and knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • Experience in a high-volume production environment gained through previous technical assignments.
  • Experience leading RCCA investigations and implementing solutions.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years of appropriate experience,
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Great team player and experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Solid product knowledge and good business understanding
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office, with experience in 3D CAD preferrable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time throughout the year

Desired Criteria


  • Experience of SAP or another MRP/ERP system.
  • Experience evaluating PFMEA data to proactively identify process improvement opportunities within the value streams.
  • Experience of the introduction of new products and complex engineering changes.
