The Quality Assurance Engineer I, will be responsible for assisting Kaplan Technology to deliver high quality software to our students and customers.This person will work as a member of the QA Department focused on functional, regression testing and managing defects throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). This individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to create and enact quality control processes. Their role involves ensuring a clear understanding of all deliverables related to requirements and completing the necessary testing to guarantee that the established standards of quality are not only met, but also exceeded.Primary Responsibilities- Perform regression testing to ensure that changes or updates to the software do not negatively impact existing functionality. Identify and report any regression issues.
- Execute test cases as per the defined test plans, both manually and through automated testing tools. Identify and document defects and issues encountered during testing.
- Analyze project requirements and user stories to ensure a clear understanding of testing objectives. Collaborate with team members to clarify requirements and address ambiguities.
- Work closely with other QA team members to coordinate testing efforts and share insights. Participate in team meetings to discuss testing progress and challenges.
- Maintain detailed and organized documentation of test cases, test results, and any identified issues. Contribute to the creation and update of testing documentation.
- Assist in the development of test plans and testing strategies under the guidance of QA Leads or higher-level QA roles. Contribute to the planning of testing activities based on project requirements.
- Communicate effectively with team members, developers, and other stakeholders regarding testing status and issues. Report testing progress and results in a clear and concise manner.
- Continuously learn and improve testing skills and stay updated on industry best practices. Seek opportunities for professional development within the QA field.
- Hybrid Schedule: 3 days remote / 2 days in office
- 30-day notification period preferred
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate degree in related areas such as Computer Science, Information Technology, etc. (equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
- 2+ years experience of manual testing processes and methodologies.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications - SQL, demonstrate basic ability to run or review SQL scripts.
