Project/Program Manager


About our Team:



This role includes responsibility for content ingestion, registration, validation, and oversight on normalization processes. Success is measured by ensuring a complete set of content is made available to our downstream content partners.


About the Role:



The Product Owner will initially take over responsibility for coordinating the deployment of a newly developed set of Research Data Platform (RDP) content ingestion capabilities. They will then continue to support the development of these capabilities from a minimum viable product into fully-fledged, integrated RDP solutions that align with long-term strategic objectives, targeting a defined architectural ideal end-state.



Responsibilities:



  • Strategic Product Roadmap: Develop and own a services/capability roadmap, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals and stakeholder needs. Drive the evolution of the content ingestion MVP into a fully integrated RDP service, targeting the ideal end-state.



  • Feature and User Story Management: Create and manage Features, Epics, and User Stories in JIRA that guide the technology team's development efforts. Prioritize tasks and maintain a refined backlog based on inputs from a diverse range of stakeholders (research, operations, corporate).



  • Events Layer Development: Coordinate the development of the events layer, ensuring observability and facilitating workflow automation and process optimization across the platform. Collaborate with technical teams to implement event-driven architectures that generate valuable insights and improve data flows.



  • System Integration and Layered Oversight: Oversee and guide the development of the platform’s input, capability, events, reporting, and orchestration layers. Ensure seamless integration of new content types and services into the RDP workflows, aligning with long-term strategic objectives.



  • Agile Methodology: Apply Agile practices to curate a well-defined and evolving backlog, managing resources, sprint planning, and timeline adherence. Collaborate with stakeholders and technology teams to continuously refine and deliver platform priorities.



  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the key interface between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment of priorities. Balance stakeholder expectations with development feasibility, maintaining focus on long-term strategic goals.



  • Service Development: Contribute to the reduction of legacy system dependencies by driving new RDP service development and integration. Ensure that all services developed are aligned with the architectural ideal state, focusing on scalability, observability, and automation.



Requirements:



  • Product Ownership: Proven ability to take ownership of a product's evolution from MVP to fully-fledged solution. Experience in aligning technology solutions with business goals, especially in data-driven platforms.



  • Agile and JIRA: Expertise in managing backlogs, sprint planning, and roadmaps using JIRA. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and the ability to apply them effectively.



  • Event-driven Architectures: Experience or deep understanding of event-driven systems, particularly in generating observability and automating workflows.



  • Technical Understanding: Familiarity with complex, multi-layered systems and platforms, particularly in research data environments. Ability to integrate multiple layers (input, capability, events, reporting, orchestration) into a cohesive platform.



Preferred Skills:



  • Experience in data platforms or research environments.



  • Basic business analysis capabilities, with a focus on stakeholder collaboration rather than detailed requirement gathering.



  • Experience in reducing legacy system dependencies through modern architecture and service development.



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.



  • 4-6 years of experience in a product ownership role, ideally in a technology or research-focused environment.



  • Strong experience in working with Agile teams, managing Epics, Features, and User Stories in JIRA.
