As a Lab Program Manager, you will work with multiple Dev, QA and Engg teams to support multiple programs for various Amazon devices. You will be setting and managing expectations, building stakeholder confidence through effective communication, reliable delivery, robust processes, and sound reporting metrics. You are also responsible for driving operational efficiency programs, quality improvements (by adopting appropriate audit and measurement mechanisms), and business impact across programs through policy changes and improvements in data quality and service delivery. The individual will also be a point of escalation for multiple teams.
You build effective relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers. You are a significant and autonomous contributor. You solve difficult lab engineering problems seeking guidance from peers and management as needed. You are learning to lead team projects effectively, negotiate requirements, drive alignment among customers and stakeholders, and troubleshoot issues (e.g. device setup, equipment, test failures). You research, design and deliver solutions that meet objectives, deadlines and budget constraints. You are proficient in a broad range of tools, equipment, and lab techniques, and you apply them appropriately. You are developing expertise in a domain area (e.g., mechanical prototypes, electrical testing, environmental testing, material characterization, reliability, failure analysis, scripting). You are able to build, test, analyse, and validate your work. You contribute to the development and delivery of high quality engineering artifacts, such as mechanical, electrical and/or test schematics, work instructions, procedures, test reports, and lessons-learned documents. You are able to estimate schedule and resource requirements accurately for lab engineering tasks. Your work may include subsystem or device fabrication (e.g. prototype building, model making/finishing, or hardware retrofit), hardware rework (e.g. matching RF component, signal integrity probe, or second/third layer PCB rework), component/device testing (e.g. RvR wifi, battery life, display optical, user study, sensor, or audio), and/or developing firmware, software, or test scripts that support the development or testing of components or subsystems. If you support software labs, you deliver consistent and high-quality scripting, coding, automation and quality-assurance activities related to the work.
You understand general lab management practices, and you share this knowledge with peers and partner teams. You help your team and customers by regularly assessing lab operations, proactively fixing deficiencies, and actively participating in lab improvement initiatives. You may contribute to project milestone reviews or hardware quality discussions. You may identify and lead projects that improve team productivity. You consider the impact of your decisions and make appropriate trade-offs between research, building, and testing.
